Imagine not loving this trailer because your devotion to defending TLJ refuses to let you think this movie could be better.

I’m psyched. Emperor’s force ghost is gonna be insanely cool and very unexpected.

 

Rey being Anakin coming back to be redeemed actually kind of makes sense. That's why the saber called to her. Being strong willed this time around rather than being manipulated by the dark. I honestly don't know.

 

Man the theories are already getting out of control lol I LOVE IT

 

Kylo being jealous of her and coming after her for being the chosen one reborn and not him?

 

Really not sure how I’d feel about the Emperor being some kind of Force poltergeist, that sounds really campy imo

 

Kylo worshiping his grandfather - but Rey actually being his grandfather...

 

Loved TLJ but I'm on board for this even if it changes directions.

 

The cinematography looks beautiful. Just a little weary about what role Palpatine is going to play, but I'm so hyped for this.

 

Ha, wait. So force ghost Obi, Yoda, Anakin, and theoretically Luke were all cool.

But force ghost Emperor is campy and too far?

 

This kind of stuff was in the old EU though. The emperor did come back but he was a clone and younger.

 

Not the best argument for it not being campy. Haha.

 

So the emperor/Ian’s appearance could be a “misdirect”, not that I buy that. But maybe.

He could be completely back. It’s possible. I see people going that direction in the thread already. Maybe.

In canon so far, a few light side Jedi have been able to come back as force ghosts. So far, dark side users essentially “reside” in certain objects. It’s happened in comics, Vader apparently speaks to Kyle through his helmet, and I think that’s what happened with Bane in TCW (I’d have to rewatch). Seems most plausible that Palpatine isn’t a ghost or fully back, rather his energy is in the Death Star. He obviously had connection to it.

I’m not gonna spend much time worrying about it, all three options still get me plenty excited. Just an observation.

 

Let me add some context to that. What I’m picturing is that Rey and the Emperor’s Ghost end up fighting each other and I think that’s a campy idea. Like here’s this ghost of the guy who caused all this shit, lets fight him in the last movie of the saga!

 

Oh I expect campy with Star Wars.

But its a teaser and fan service should be expected. I'm not going to judge anything too hard based on a 2 minute teaser.

Hoping for something inventive and surprising (and of course, entertaining!)

 

Im going to be an annoying Star Wars fan and say no way Palpatines a Force Ghost. According to canon he basically cant at least in the same way of what weve seen. If he does thats literally the only thing I wouldnt like or I guess accept. The dark side is incapable of letting go of their physical form. They already set up how you can use the dark side to stay alive like Plagueis could. He taught that to PAlpatine and Im hoping thats how hes back

No I think Rey 100% fights Kylo. But the Emperor’s ghost will likely reveal some strings he pulled with Anakin and where Rey fits into all of it.

 

This is what I think it is.

 

I’m bored of movies having Rise in them. I thought after all the jokes that wouldn’t keep happening.
