Not for the price they’re likely to get him for. If they were paying him as a starter then yes, but I highly doubt that

I do agree that he’s not a special runner though. Not powerful up the middle, not quick enough outside.

I just think he shows great awareness and has reliable hands / sideline footwork as a third down back. Which is exactly what the Patriots like

My thing is that if they were to sign Yeldon and he ran for 500 yards in limited time, it’d be spun as “wow they’re really maximizing the value of under appreciated players” when really they just signed Yeldon and he did exactly what you’d expect out of Yeldon with probably more playing time than a guy like Yeldon warrants

I don’t follow their roster super closely so I could be completely off base, but I can’t remember the last player who substantially improved as an unheralded FA signing on NE. Blount?

The pressure to score is much lower with Fournette because we usually focus on time of possession and defense when our running game is doing well.

Yes the numbers are similar - but the latter comes exclusively in garbage time when we are desperately scraping at points against soft coverage... while the former happens in games that are kept in reach because Fournette singlehandedly increases our time of possession.
