Who knows? Blink have usually been chorus-focused though cause they're big on catchy hooks. Even if people want to group repetive lyrics found in 'Down', 'Go', 'Im Sorry', etc with random "na na na" it's still lazy songwriting, even if "expected" of Blink.

Plus with the darker alternative lyrics they go for nowadays I feel the "na" doesn't go with the song like it used to in the pop-punk days.

First two tracks were great, absolutely hate No Future right now.

Maybe it'll grow on me, but right now I think this song is garbage.

The bridge on this is the best thing I've heard from the album so far. That thing is killer.

It seems like the complaints that people have about this song (less than poetic lyrics/standard pop-punk song structure/na nas, etc) could be said about literally every blink song ever. This is who blink is, for better or worse.

I didnt enjoy it. Will skip it each time it comes on the album. These lyrics are terrible

"Where did she go?" repeated several times with no complaints but keep pretending it's the same as "na, na, na, na"

I'm not going to suppose that the lyrics are going to be bad. I'd like to give these new songs the benefit of the doubt. And if it's a dumb personal problem, it's one that plenty of other users in this thread have expressed that they share

    frick.

I personally don't like watching lyric videos. So I hit play, and then do something else while the song plays. I don't like trying to keep up with all of the moving around the words do and stuff. It's distracting when I'm trying to just listen to the song. A lyric video wouldn't ever make me dislike a song though. It's not the song's fault if the video is dumb. Same goes for music videos in general too.

  12. That's totally true, but there's also the hope that I lyric video can make a song even better by highlighting lyrics that I otherwise wouldn't have taken notice of.

  13. yeah, maybe. do you get physical copies of albums or are you all digital? i'm still a CD/vinyl guy, so i generally wait and read along with the liner notes when i first get a CD or whatever. it's much easier for me to focus on reading along on a piece of paper than watching words bounce all over the place, haha.

Yeah this album's gonna be meh for me it's looking like... unfortunate, because I really dug the new lineup at Musink. Ah well, at least their live show is still good.

honestly, i just dont like this kind of music anymore. every single new song i hear from this band its just soooo boring for me. Travis's beats are always good, but honestly, it just sounds like an incredible drummer over really really lame everything else... okay, lame is harsh - but i guess, bland is a better word.

and i dont know, this band essentially means nothing to me at this point so i dont know how much weight anything i say carriers (and i dont say that in a negative "BLINK SUCKS" attitude... i used to genuinely love this band, but i just never listen to this band anymore). looking back on the "Neighborhoods" track listing right now, there are actually a few tracks on there that i still think are good. Miles better than anything ive heard from "California" at this point (Natives, Kaleidoscope, Wishing Well, Hearts All Gone, hell even Snake Charmer was a crazy catchy song despite the bad lyrics)

i dno, im super unimpressed with every song released thus far.

EDIT: im going to apolgize in advance for how negative this post is... i guess it comes from being confused why this band cant hook me with anything anymore. but i guess i really have just grown bored with it, which is fine.

I basically agree with this. Even though a lot of Neighborhoods was mediocre imo, it still felt at times like they were trying new ideas... the songs from this so far just feel like "Blink by the numbers" or a "for the fans" album, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but it's bland for me so far.

  17. I'm primarily a CD guy, with a growing vinyl collection as well. I've been wanting to make it a better habit to read through lyric booklets though, sometimes I sadly upload a CD onto my computer than shelve it for, basically, forever

This is not a good song. Does anyone else feel like Matt is playing it pretty safe? I think he sounds a lot like Mark. Not so much on this one but especially on the other two. Neighborhoods is my favorite Blink album (I know, I know) so I was pretty disappointed to see things turn out the way they did. Bored to Death was so good though that I actually thought this album was going to turn out pretty good. Both of the singles they've released since then have been really destroying the confidence that Bored to Death gave me. Rabbit Hole I was indifferent to, but this one I actually dislike. Oh well. I hope it turns out to be a good record.

Not a fan of this. Don't really want to ever hear it again. Bored to Death still gives me hope for the album.

i will agree that the lyric videos have completely thrown me off the first time i've heard each song. i listen to them without watching and i like them better. can't really explain why. maybe it's because the lyrics are so "meh" that seeing them solidifies that.

I feel very frustrated with this song and the songs released thus far. At the risk of sounding ungrateful for a new album for a rejuvenated favorite band, it seems that all the songs released so far sound so so so sugary. I was really scared about that when I heard that John Feldmann was the one that was going to produce it, and i'm starting to think that I'm right. The "oh oooh oh oh" from Bored to Death, the "na na" from this song, and the ending of "rabbit hole" just ruin it for me. These songs all sound like regressions to me from where the self-titled album left off. Does anyone else get the vibe that they're chasing the old classic blink sound rather than moving forward from the self-titled album? Hopefully the next one allows them to feel more comfortable and take their time with it. Maybe it's just me but I think that these guys do their best work when they take their time with it rather than being immediate. The lyrics and redundant parts being the main example.

REGARDLESS, people seem to dig it so good for them I guess.

I get what you're saying here, but at least for me personally, blink wasn't the "All the Small Things" band anymore, they were the "Feeling This" / "Always" / "Down" band that was comfortable enough to try some weird things. It's just disappointing to hear them regress so much.

I agree with this. Looking back at it, Neighborhoods isn't really as bad as people make it out to be, and in my opinion nothing I've heard from California is as good as everyone is making it out to be. Don't get me wrong, Neighborhoods was a disappointment, but I go back and still enjoy many of the tracks.

I thought Bored to Death was just OK, but underwhelming for the most part. Seemed like a pretty safe, generic song to release. Everything else I've heard from this album just hasn't been that good. To be honest, sound like +44 b-sides.

My gut feeling: I think this album is going to flop.

Created an account just to reply. I swear, I've never seen a more finicky group of fans than blink fans. Over the years I've been a member of both this site and blink-182online forums and its so strange to me how people "review" the new songs to the extent of picking each section apart or downright hating this song, when honestly it's not much different at least not enough to be despised. It's like people are looking for reasons to pick it apart, and they care so so much about this band not becoming "poppy", like its some inferiority complex. I think this song is super catchy and is a really cool new blend of mark and matts styles. That bridge is total alk3 but it's awesome.

Why do people have to have everything tailored to their exact tastes? Lighten up!
