    Why would you think that?

I legitimately cannot think of any scenario where it would make since for Riot Fest to book that band. Nothing about their style, aesthetic, or history fits the festival. So unless there's a drastic shift in the kind of bands they're booking...

Cuz they are known to get reunion tours..... plus I’m pretty Sure they have had harder hitting bands play then staind. Plus they have had of the same genre/genres of music play before so it’s not out of the question.pretty sure the same thing was said when System of a Down was booked they have evolved what they book it used to be just straight punk and ska. Go look at the early lineups when it was random venues in Chicago compared to since it went outside and 3 days till now. Your argument and point are invalid

theres also a handful of bands that are playing louder then life 2 weeks after that could end up on this. there will be some pretty good fall tours

I'm familiar with the history of the festival and how it's evolved. I would find it really boring if all they did was book punk/ska. But they don't have a history booking bands who were popular during that whole "nu-metal" thing unless there's something else to them.

When System was booked, the general consensus (as far as I recall) was "woah - good for them! Makes sense." I'm sure some people didn't get it, but overall it was positive... System a Down worked because they're a fairly weird band, they have a ton of energy, they're well-liked/respected beyond their core genre, and they hadn't been playing very many shows at that point.

Riot Fest books metal/heavier bands that tend to have roots in the "punk" or "hardcore" scene (or share some of the same values/ethics), have some sort of gimmick, and/or are critically lauded. Staind is none of that.

So unless they're completely rebranding themselves or trying something different? I am pretty much at 99.9% that Staind will not be on the poster when the line-up gets announced.

I know nothing about Staind, but yea this is kind of the convo we've had before. Certainly they are open to a variety of genres, and they're not against heavy bands, but there is a certain element the band has to have that I frankly can barely explain. It's the reason System works but I don't think Slipknot would. Even though those two have appeared at the same festival together before.

And omg so angry for no reason at all lol

one band on a bill of over 100 bands doesn't matter and is no where close to a rebrand or whatever. they always have a band that plays or a few that dose not fit the bill and no one complains about it. so why are you complaining and making a big deal of someones opinion and guess

The bands on the top 3-4 lines are the ones that draw most people's attention first. So it would matter to your average concert-goer.

I'm not complaining about your opinion. Just saying that there's a lot of evidence pointing to it not happening and little to no evidence that it might or ever would happen. Did they announce a tour that has no Chicago stop and runs through September or something that might indicate that they would play?

Then why not guess Disturbed, Godsmack, Halestorm, and Three Days Grace all might play too?

There's definitely a few bands I could see playing Riot Fest that are on that Louder Than Life festival... But I don't think Staind (or any of the ones I listed above, except maybe Manson) are it.

A Day To Remember, the Melvins, the Crystal Method, Anti-Flag, HO99O9, Die Antwoord, Ice Cube, and/or Angel Du$t are all way more likely. There's a few more, but I'm ruling them out because they played last year or play every year.

halestrom and three days grace are both out playing tinley on other tours in august/september disturbed and godmack might but who knows i think adtr i previal beartooh anti flag architects frank carter and sum 41 are all playing riot but in reality i could see half the lineup of louder then life being on riot

and my whole reason for my guess is like i said REUNION!

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

I feel like Staind seems way more likely to play something like Chicago Open Air or Sonic Temple next year (or both) as opposed to playing Riot Fest. Not only that, but I feel like them announcing Louder than Life THEN announcing Riot Fest, two weeks earlier, kind of sucks the momentum out of Louder than Life.

And on the topic of which god awful 90s alternative band would play Riot Fest - Disturbed is more likely considering they’re a Chicago band.

I also think people are grossly underestimating how much people hate Staind, especially the typical Riot Fest crowd.

Well, if you don't want to see the Raconteurs or whoever is playing Saturday night, you'll have other options

Makes sense. Thought it was worth highlighting, though!

I just don't see any of those bands ever being on the list of potentials. They don't tick any of the boxes, and I really don't see what value they would add to the festival or what the bands might get out of it.

I see your point about Disturbed being a hometown band. But would a significant number of people really pay ~$100 to see them play without a line-up full of similar acts? I honestly don't know.

it's been a while...since we've had some silly speculation about who's playing riot.
