I understand this viewpoint and obviously understand where it comes from. But I know several sex workers including myself who do feel empowered by it, obviously none of them were trafficked into it so that’s a key factor.

I also think so many problems you (and others on the same page as you) describe are problems that society has against women that IMO have nothing to do with whether or not it’s legalized/decriminalized.
Like “as long as there’s a demand for women’s bodies to be traded like goods” that demand has always been there. I don’t think it’s fair to pin it on sex work or blame it when with or without sex work that demand would still be there because of how our society just views women in general.

Based on how our society views women I think women who see that and want to exploit it to their own (financial) benefit, I am all here for it.
Of course it’s a grey area like you said because you don’t know who’s doing it for their own benefit or who’s being forced/coerced into it. But I DO firmly believe that if we changed the lens that we view sex work through, we would be able to offer way more support and resources for victims without fear of them going to jail or getting hurt.

It kinda sounds like you might agree with the “decriminalize sex work for the seller, but keep it illegal for the buyer” perspective, which I don’t disagree with.


At the end of the day I am always going to have a vehement hatred towards people/laws telling me what I can and cannot do with my own body.

In our current climate, casual sex and hook up culture is pretty much ever-present. I reject the idea that society is pressuring women to be more and more into casual sex but if we want to make money off of it then that’s wrong.
I’ve given a million blowjobs for free and got absolutely nothing in return because hook up culture pressured me into thinking that’s what you’re ‘supposed’ to do. I wish every day I had received $$$ in return. Getting money from it is, for me, taking back that power.
