How to trigger the right 101

 

Hate all you want but this was a good interview, and it was a productive conversation with Yang being able to explain his views and explain why some of Shapiro's points were wrong.

I understand those who don't think candidates should go on his show because that would be legitimizing his platform and ultimately wouldn't bring any good, I see that point, but on the other hand, if you can have a constructive conversation and expose your points to him and explain why he is wrong, it's not a big no-no in my opinion.

Ben Shapiro is a racist transphobic homophobic xenophobic smear merchant. Legitimizing him in any way is a big no-no. It doesn’t matter at all if Yang or anyone else has good counterpoints to the shit he says, his audience will not care and will just use Yang’s appearance as ammo against candidates who (rightly) refuse to go on his show

Jason, do you think people like Andrew Yang and Pete Buttigieg don't realize this, or do they not care, or do they honestly think that the benefits outweigh the negatives???? They both seem like pretty intelligent people otherwise. I am honestly baffled they would even consider it, nevermind go through with it .

 

2 years from now someone is going to post something like "remember andrew yang and pete buttigieg?" and the collective response will be "who?"

I think they’ve used the guise of “constructive debate” to fool the media and clearly lots of people into thinking they’re just rational people with different opinions. That opinion just justifies genocide and human rights, but because of how it’s coded it gets a pass. Because people spread it around as “look they’re just debating!” and it is not met with the outright scorn anyone espousing the dehumanization of multiple groups of people should be met with is a big part of the problem. These are not views to be debated. The debate is over. These are views to fight. This is what happens when you put a clean cut smile on age old bigotry. And people fall for it again and again because they believe you can argue in good faith with someone that does not believe someone else has the right to exist. Ffffffffuuuuuccccck that. It makes me extremely angry.

You very clearly don't understand those who oppose giving this sniveling worm a platform. You can say you do, but the fact that you keep pushing it means that you don't. You naively think that anybody involved in Shapiros show or fanbase is coming from a place of good faith or a pursuit of facts. They don't care about "Good points" or facts. Has Shapiro ever taken new information that proved him wrong and incorporated it into his world view? No. Because that's not the fucking point of his show. Its pontification and dick stroking for quasi-intellectuals and you keep falling for it like the rubes that listen to him daily.

Buttigieg to me seems like the exact modern equivalent of this kind of thinking, so it doesn’t surprise me. It’s shaped his worldview, and he’s wrong. That if we just debate these ideas and work together we can achieve some ideal state of bi-partisanship. It’s the exact same ploy that’s been used to take advantage of this naivety for decades while farther and farther right policies are enacted while the “smart” Dems wonder why their magical bi-partisan debate wand didn’t work. If anyone can look at what happened in Obama’s tenure and think we should continue down that path ... they’re going to be in direct opposition to what I think we need to do to survive. The time for “debating” the new Bill OReilly is over. The time to dismantle the right wing apparatus that poisons the minds of millions and promotes the worst kind of bigotry begins with identifying the problem. Buttigieg has not, and until he does, he’s not qualified to be POTUS imo.
