If we saw any more of him he would have been much higher on my list. I LOVE Qui-Gon, it's just that with the other characters above him on my list there was so much more with them. I originally had him much higher but he kept getting bumped down when I thought about how much I loved stuff about the others.

He was like the perfect encapsulation of what I thought a Jedi would have been like during the time when the Jedi Order operated as peace keepers in the galaxy. Just came off as the guy that was really wise but also wise enough to know what he didn't know, a student of the force, not entirely strict about adhering to the jedi code when he thought it was the right thing to do, etc.

of course, I may be letting some of my knowledge from the novelization and the jedi apprentice series' bleed into my high thoughts of him and it's supposed to be movie only lol.

And lets face it, Liam Neeson just looked/sounded like what you would think a white humanoid Jedi would look/sound like if they existed in real life. The long hair, the beard, etc.

Was Mace the only POC Jedi we ever met? Humanoid I mean?

Agree with all of that. He really was the the epitome of a Jedi to me even over Yoda and all them. I feel like had he been alive he’d be the one who was balanced enough to see/sense Palpatine/the dark side slipping in the back door. Also that imagine of him meditating va Maul is one of my favorite SW images/moments.

I can’t wait till the 16th and we get Claudia Grays exploration of his character.

I honestly feel like my view of The Phantom Menace the movie is like a weird amalgamation of what is actually on screen and what takes place in the novelization by Terry Brooks, which I read right around the time the movie was first released, and LOVED as a 15 year old Star Wars fanatic. I've read that book, and I've also read what I believe was a novelization of A New Hope that was actually written by George Lucas. My dad had a pretty amazing softcover book with an awesome Darth Vader image on the cover when I was younger.

I think it was this ---> [IMG]

I don’t know if it’s still canon but wasn’t Qui-Gon skeptic of the Jedi temple at some point in his life?

I will agree that him meditating before fighting Maul is awesome. He was confident in the force. I am pretty sure he is the reason that Yoda, Kenobi, and Anakin (maybe Luke) can force ghost

Yeah I think so...he was always written as being a bit of a rogue who thought the Jedi Order was sometimes misguided because they were too black and white. I know that was how he was presented in the Jedi Apprentace series, and they did go out of their way to have Obi-Wan say in Phantom Menace he'd be Jedi Counsel already if he wasn't so independent (I think. That line is in the movie, right?)

And yeah they imply pretty heavily at the end of Revenge that both Yoda and Obi-Wan learn that power from Qui-Gon.

Yeah he was the trailblazer on that front. Hes the first one who was able to communicate with somebody living (Yoda and Obi-Wan) through the Force. Even though he appeared on Mortis in TCW, I dont think he was actually able to become a ghost but he told Yoda to go to the Wellspring of Life where he learned how and begin that training, which he then presumably told Obi-Wan.

Darth Maul probably would have been my #11. Just remembering that feeling of him attacking them in the desert that first time, or LOSING MY SHIT in the theater the first time he powered that second lightsaber blade up.

Nah, this is a great take and honestly it's still probably one of my favorite roles that Liam Neeson has ever done. Just wish he was given somewhat of a better script. I remember when Obi-Wan and Yoda briefly discuss interacting with his force ghost at the end of episode 3 I almost lost my shit thinking he was gonna cameo.

    It really is so epic.

I just re-watched that whole scene on YouTube, and I can remember audibly gasping in the theater and pushing back in my seat like "oh shit" when the group is walking but then that hangar door opens and Darth Maul is standing there.

Okay now imagine that...but with Rey and it’s a double bladed yellow saber...RIGHT?!?!

If speaking something into existence is a thing, I think the amount of times I’ve mentioned it in this thread alone has to be enough to make it happen.

I think you mean episode 3, but yea that was really cool. Have you seen the Clone Wars episodes where Yoda speaks to Qui-Gon and all that?

Easily one of the most iconic images in Star Wars, next to these:

Easy mix up. As far as my other question, if you haven’t seen the last three episodes of TCW series with Qui Gon communicating to Yoda and Yoda learning how to become a Force Ghost I really recommend it

Kylo doesn't say it though, she says it. He doesn't say anything until she realizes it herself.

She can’t even remember her parents. There’s the flashback of her parents leaving on a ship and that’s it. I would definitely think it’s believable if Kylo took advantage of her fear of not knowing her parents by looking at how she reacted.
