Its the most believable thing, old dude constantly invades women's space for decades, feels entitled to do or act however he wants, suddenly faces even an ounce of consequence, and is then defended by million of centrist boomers online because they want to beat a larger sexual assault grandpa in a presidential election.

    Tale as old as time.

This video is a good takedown of Carlson but a really fucking good explanation of false consciousness to share with your friends who you know would never read socialist theory

To what degree should there be room for genuine apology and change as a person?

To me, the level of trust I want in my president can't be earned back in a handful of months, and the out of touchiness that thought his behavior was appropriate its symptomatic of a guy stuck in the past when we need a president who can focus on the future. So I'm certainly not on board with the "Biden should run" train.

But at the same time, I think there should be room for people to say "Yes my actions were wrong and I will do better" and not be completely canceled. I think there is still room for Biden in the democratic party. Just towards the back. With a watchful eye. Where he can primarily work on helping others in the party not himself.

Also I don’t think this stuff is imploding Biden’s campaign the way some of you think...all of these women have been very clear about it not being sexual assault, a lot of other women are defending him due to the lack of sexual nature of it, and most of the low information voters are def gonna be the “eh he’s just an overly nice old guy that needs to learn personal space/not assuming women are okay with being touched”...I just don’t know if the votes he loses because of this specific thing will be enough to propel Bernie into the lead.

  8. The fact that nothing reported by Barr has contradicted the reporting, of giant stories, of the NYT or WAPO should be noted.

  9. This is why I don’t get why he hasn’t done it yet. This is gonna be a story until he does. I’m so confused at this stubbornness.

Biden's best move is to issue an apology to all the women he has made feel uncomfortable, decide not to run and endorse one of the many qualified women running for president.

He certainly shouldn't be thrown off a cliff, as long as he owns up to his mistakes AND apologizes. He still could play an important role in the democratic party from the sidelines if he does this right.

If he runs I don't think he will be hurt too much from this. Will he be the frontrunner? It's too early to say but yeah, it hasn't been anything sexual so it's certainly isn't and should not be taken as harshly as if it was.

People want Biden to run because of his mythical electability, his creepy out of touch interactions with dozens of women is one of the many reasons he's not a good candidate, he has so many things like that that could easily sink him.

I believe there's plenty of room for change and growth, I also believe he should not be president for this and many other reasons.

  14. Biden, like Obama and Hillary, shouldn’t endorse anyone at this point and probably shouldn’t until after the nom is secured tbh

there's a lot of new, progressive, exciting faces within the democratic party, he doesn't need to play any role in the party anymore. get him outta here.

for me Biden not understanding boundaries is also coupled with him being dismissive of milennials which centrists gen x and boomers will obviously eat up but personally I think if any democratic candidate doesn't embrace the younger wave that's gonna feel shitty

and then if there is a single point where he maybe didn't lie, it's treated as complete vindication for all his past sins

I think the “it’s not sexual” stuff is a cop out. Biden is over stepping boundaries, touching people who don’t want to be touched. It “not being sexual” is absolutely secondary; he’s invading personal space and doing something without consent. That’s huge, to me.

Also, he’s currently 76. We need another near-80 white dude leading a party to fight for policies he won’t live long enough to see the repercussions for? Nahh.

There’s room for contrition and growing from doing things wrong — hell, if there wasn’t, I’d be screwed for how shitty of a person I was for so long — but he still hasn’t apologized. He’s shown no contrition outside of the fact that this is something that’s picking up steam. Basically, I don’t think he offers really anything I want out of the Democratic Party moving forward at all. There’s too many young, bright stars to play second fiddle to another boomer centerist.

Its gotta be much worse than we know. Barr saw the summaries, went out of his way to cover them up and write his own much more vague and less damaging summaries, knowing that the summaries will likely come out. Such a ballsy move that historically might have paid off but will now just make things worse.
