I could actually see that happening. I don't think the side projects tour would happen because you don't want Mark to have to sing two sets every night. But I don't think a Blink headliner with Skiba, with AVA as direct support and Transplants opening would be out of the question. Could even do "Cat Like Thief" with Travis and Armstrong in the AVA set and bring Tom out for the blink encore....

 

I just want Simple Creatures to thrive. Could see a ATL/Simple Creatures tour happen.

 

Yeah I think Alex and Travis are the only members of this extended family that could handle multiple sets in a day

Does anyone else kinda find it disheartening that Mark only wants to write in the studio?

On one hand, I can see why. He doesn’t have the chance to second guess himself and think “does this actually suck? this sucks. i suck.” Maybe that’s how he fell into writers block in the first place, which would make sense. I’ve been there.

But on the other, writing a song at home, bringing it to the band, fleshing it out as a band together in a room, demoing it/doing pre-production, and then taking it to their producer and finally recording the finished product just makes so much sense. And it gives the songs a chance to find themselves rather than just being recorded as they’re being written, getting tossed into a folder, and then moving onto the next one. It’s potentially half-assing the whole songwriting process.

Maybe that’s just me... just a shower thought

 

Random question, but why is this thread the only one Im subscribed to that stops giving me notifications? At a certain point I have to manually come back into the thread, and then it starts sending them again when there are new posts. @Jason Tate ?

 

You know what... This has been happening to me too for a while. It happens every now and then.

 

If you get a notification that’s there’s a post in any thread and do not go into that thread, you’ll not receive another notification of a new post. Once you load up the thread, you’ll be notified again of a new post. It’s so you don’t get 100,000 notifications about new posts.


At least that’s how I remember it to be working.

 

Is there evidence he doesn't write at home? Maybe he just prefers collaborating with people and can't come up with things by himself. Or wants to keep his home his home and separate from "work".

So thoughts after finally getting time with the Simple Creatures EP....

I enjoyed it 10x more after finally being able to listen with good speakers. There are a ton of subtle noises and even sub bass that I was totally missing out on before.

I know Mark has obviously used plenty of pitch correction on past records, but it was actually kind of cool hearing him with that overly-autotuned robotic effect on his voice. The way they blended his voice with Alex's on some of those parts sounds so cool when you listen with good headphones. It almost sounds like a different person.

The bridge of Lucy is probably my favorite part of the EP and is (not surprisingly) the most blink-sounding part of the whole thing. I wouldn't mind more of that upbeat style on the next release.

 

Mark was live on instagram. Said the album is coming in june, then some girl in the background (label/marketing person i would guess) said something like "what? No its not" haha... i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Haha definitely seems like he wasn't supposed to say that. Or maybe that's just what they're shooting for but it's not yet confirmed (June seems awfully close for not having anything announced at all).

Either way, that comment makes me think we should be getting an announcement in the very near future at the very least. Let's hope they didn't fire that dude that fucked up and released "Bored to Death" early.

Didn't they play off that later on in the album cycle with a sale or something? Like "Oh boy, we messed up again!"

 

Serious note:

I purposely use a flip phone for work. No texting, email, or internet (iPad does that). Emails are checked/replied to 3 times a day. It’s fucking great. Clients actually call me instead of texting me and it’s great for maintaining a rapport with them haha.

 

Blink is playing the Quebec City Music Festival on July 14. The summer tour has to be announced any day now.

 

Anyone else ever realize that "Don't Mean Anything" from Cali Deluxe is very reminiscent of this in the chorus?

 

Hasn't Mark and Travis been lightly confirming June for a bit now? Maybe that label person was being funny?
