The punk cover of Funeral still blows my mind.

 

oh man maybe i can get my wife to like this band now.

 

It's the greatest thing ever but I can't help but feel like Spanish Love Songs version might have been the inspiration for them to do it:

My biggest take away from last night was that LALA LALA was awesome. Really glad I made it for their set.

 

At the Cleveland show they lip synced to that cover before going into their version

Not sure if they’d been doing that all tour or not

 

And it was wonderful

 

Easy/Lucky/Free is such a good closer. Top 5 Bright Eyes tune for me. Was so happy when they busted that out.

Did you listen to Kelly's cover? I liked her version more, but still not obsessed with the song

Kelly's version is easily the best I have heard the song sound (I haven't listened to the BOCC version yet however). I don't like the regular version and thought the Oscar's performance was one of the worst live performances I had heard in a long time, I just don't get it, B Coops is such a terrible singer

 

He sometimes sounds like Chris Pratt when he sings on Parks and Rec. I say this with no judgement, lol

 

I honestly didn't know the Shallow song until I watched A Star is Born right before the Oscars. My wife was already annoyed of the song by the time we watched the movie and was stunned to realize I had never heard it before.

Also, this cover seems kind of strange considering Conor seems to be trying to do a Bradley Cooper/Country voice. Would have much preferred to see him try to just do his own rendition. Like, was it supposed to be a joke? Even the way he's swinging his arms while signing seems to be kind of making a mockery of it (At least from the video I saw up on Rolling Stone).

Yeah I don’t think he wanted to do it, but phoebe really did. At least that’s how it seems. He seemed like he was having fun with it though, at least from the back of crowd it looked that way

 

I love me that Shallow song.

 

There's another video of Shallow with more of an intro to it and Conor says something like "I must have lost a bet, or I just really like Phoebe because we're going to do this..."
