This is why I need to go talk to someone, I feel like im speaking a language idk.

 

I want a good paying IT job, whatever the fuck it entails.

 

Then I hear so many damn different angles and decisions and opportunities and whats a waste and what isnt and I just get overwhelmed and do nothing

 

The big thing I like about going the cert route is that it puts you in a situation where you can get that IT job and work towards a BS while not killing yourself over it at a worse job AND gives the experience those BS jobs likely require anyway

My certs got me to the job I have now which is completely paying for my college AND for my Pluralsight courses for any other things I want

 

Same.

I just don't want to go in interviews.

Lol I was studying for a minute to be A+ certified but it just wasn’t my thing. My brother in law owns an IT company so I worked for him for a minute but yeah I just didn’t like it. But hey I don’t even think he finished high school and he’s been super successful in that field! I feel that’s a career path where you can get by if you happen to be good but I’m just basing it off this one case

 

Yeah I got certified and was happy with my certifications and all that and once I got my first IT job I fuckin hated it hahaha

Im just gonna apply the school I want to go to and meet with an advisor, hopefully they arent trash. Me and Cait are gonna sit this weekend and look at stuff.

Take a look at these programs - took them from my schools site but it explains the differences between Computer science degrees, information systems, and computer engineering for starters. Decide the route you want and look into those degrees. Read the specific classes you would be taking to give you an idea of what the major will be like. Reach out to the head of the department at your college to set up a meeting.

 

I hated being the IT person. I was good at it but having to fix people's stupid problems was annoying. That's why I was a developer instead.
