I guess everyone knew forever that Howard wasn't gonna fit there so they didn't have much leverage.

I'm fine with trading him but it better not just be a salary dump

he is still a great player

    The rivalry is back on

This sounds like exactly what the Dolphins want to avoid in the #TankForTua

I can't wait for our games. I'd say it's probably the best surrounding offense each of our teams have had around the QB since they were drafted. They should both be exciting shootouts.

I can't help but think this hurts his value to us and for potential trades?

Oh no doubt, it's something my heart won't be able to handle. My guess is the most likely scenario is we split this year.

I agree, also I'm working on a huge stats split thing for RBs since y'all got Howard and will be posting shortly, haha

This tweet got me wondering where all running backs stood statistically over the last three years, so I pulled all RB stats with 300+ carries over that time frame, as well as their receiving stats and combined them into touches, yards, and touchdowns, both totals and average per game. There's 36 players involved and tons of stats if anyone has any questions but here's a quick summary:

    Totals:

    Touches:

    1. Zeke - 1,003
    2. Gurley - 979
    3. Gordon - 862
    4. Howard - 850
    5. McCoy - 825

    Yards:

    1. Zeke - 5,247
    2. Gurley - 5,136
    3. Gordon - 4,372
    4. McCoy - 3,961
    5. Howard - 3,938

    TDs:

    1. Gurley - 46
    2. Gordon - 38
    3. Zeke - 34
    4. Kamara - 31
    5. Johnson - 30

Volume stats can be misleading so I pulled the games played totals and did averages as well:

    Average per Game:

    Touches:

    1. Bell - 27.48
    2. Zeke - 25.08
    3. Fournette - 21.86
    4. Gurley - 21.76
    5. Johnson - 21.15

    Yards:

    1. Bell - 141.85
    2. Zeke - 131.18
    3. Gurley - 114.13
    4. Hunt - 110.52
    5. Johnson - 108.91

    TDs:

    1. Gurley - 1.02
    2. Kamara - 1.00
    3. Gordon - 0.93
    4. Hunt - 0.93
    5. Johnson - 0.91

Then I did an overall average combing all six rankings and finding an average within those and got the following:

    1. Gurley
    2. Zeke
    3. Bell
    4. Gordon
    5. Johnson
    6. Hunt
    7. Fournette
    8. Kamara
    9. McCoy
    10. Freeman
    11. Murray
    12. McCaffrey
    13. Ingram
    14. Howard
    15. Mixon

There's tons of context that renders most, if not all, of this useless but I still found it interesting to poke around with!

    Just added yards per touch:

    1. Kamara - 6.61
    2. McCaffrey - 5.83
    3. Hunt - 5.61
    4. Coleman - 5.54
    5. Ingram - 5.33
    6. Freeman - 5.29
    7. Gurley - 5.25
    8. Zeke - 5.23
    9. Powell - 5.21
    10. Bell - 5.16

McCoy's touches is kind of fascinating because he's generally seen as someone who misses like a ton of time, but he's never played less than 12 games a season, which isn't a big number, just kinda crazy considering the label he has.

Also didn't expect Johnson's yards and td's to be in the top 5 since he was mostly garbage last year (not all his fault). Really puts into perspective how good his 2016 was

I agree on both of them showing up so well in these surprised me but what shocked me the most was Gordon. I've always known he's a good and reliable running back but damn, he's arguably top five!

The more I look at these stats it's really mind boggling that it only took a 6th rounder to get Howard.

Yeah, and he was a 5th round pick to begin with. Great value for both teams.
