As someone who has never really played any JRPGs (I was going to say I'm not a fan but I haven't really tried) would you recommend Persona 5? I saw it for 20 bucks at Walmart the other day.

That's good. The thing with panic disorders is that preventative measures are often necessary because you can't always anticipate every trigger. Make sure she takes it every day as prescribed, and know it will probably take a few weeks to a few months to see the benefits.

As for things you can do in the day to day - avoid caffeine and nicotine, try to get exercise and maintain a balanced diet, and avoid stressors that she knows will trigger her. When a panic attack happens, maintain a calm presence, have her sit down, and encourage her through it. Try to help her breathe deeply in and out. Once that attack happens it feels like your chest is seizing so you kind of have to take yourself out of that feeling and try to gain control back on your own breathing. It took me a long time to be able to do this for myself, I thought I was literally dying when I started having panic attacks.

Encourage her to go to talk therapy if she's not and in general provide her with a supportive and safe place, which it seems like your're trying to do.

 

I'd say P5 is less JRPG than most other JRPG's because of the day to day simulation as well, the battle system is also fairly simple. For 20 bucks dude I'd give it a go, it introduces you into a fantastic world.
