First day back after 3 days off last week and I'm mortified of how much work will be on my plate

 

Ughh everytime I walk into my office after the weekend it feels like I never left. How is everyone this morning?

So I’m staying at @CarpetElf ‘s grandma’s house in Tallahassee to break up my drive to New Orleans. I was shocked that she told me she’s about to turn 83, and she responded with:

“If you rest, you rust.” I LOVE that haha.

She likened it to a friend who felt they had to take care of their aging father, and she asked him rhetorically “well what does 80 years old look like?” And told him to let his father do things as long as he still feels good enough to do them.

She’s still so sharp and active. Like, when I come here she never lets me touch the fridge or stove, INSISTS on me sitting down and her taking care of dinner, etc. Matt has the sweetest and most welcoming family home.

 

How many beds she have?

 

Annapolis area is where it’s at. The last place I lived in Maryland before moving was near Pasadena actually

 

That sounds like a wonderful theory until your grandma puts laundry detergent into the dishwasher or forgets the stove is on or something.

No disrespect to @CarpetElf's grandma of course, just saying my great grandma also feels good enough to do everything at 92 and if we let her do everything she would murder us all. So idk if that phrase holds up for everyone haha.

I'm so glad she lives in a 1 story house now, was not fun enforcing stairs with her

 

my grandmother is a young 75 and I can’t tell you how many times I would go to her house and walk in and smell something burning and have to take a pan of water she left boiling for tea off the burner that had all evaporated and was just burning the shit out of the pan

I legit worry daily about her burning her house down :(
