My thoughts exactly! As terrible as the lows are on Rad, songs like If You're Wondering, Put Me Back Together and Let It All Hang Out makes it redeemable. Hurley on the other hand is just incredibly bland beginning to end.

The Hurley hate is so silly. Unspoken, a song that literally no one talks about, is better than every song on this album. By a wide margin

 

Personally I think Unspoken is god awful. Sounds like something I would've written and recorded when I was 14.

 

Well yeah this album sucks

 

I've always said Unspoken is one of the band's best.

But...it's literally the only song I go back to on Hurley.

 

I write off Hurley because my ocular nerve went pop zoom

 

Unspoken absolutely KILLS IT with the build up and explosion at the end.
Trainwrecks is strong as hell, Rivers sings the hell out of it
Ruling Me rules
tracks 1-4 are top notch Weezer
6 and 7 are great
9 and 10 are dope
Jorge Garcia is awesome
LOST is GOAT
Hurley is great.

 

I can get behind these three.

 

Rivers sounds completely different on “Hurley.” Certain tone/inflection that we never really heard from him outside of that record. “Memories” especially comes to mind

 

He sounds 20 on Time Flies

 

Not sure I'll be agreed with, but I truly believe that Hurley would have been better received as a self titled album with a color, I think the cover and title just really fucked with people when they were at the height of their Wtf-ness

 

I think this is true. I just read an interview with Pat where he says he wished they would’ve just self-title all their records

Eh I don't think that's true, not for me anyways. Coming off Make Believe the next album being red didn't garner it any extra brownie points from me.

But I like 6 out of 10 songs on Hurley anyways (7 if I count Time Flies which absolutely gets the purposeful shittiness of the recording held against it for me) the song is good I just can't listen to it.

 

I probably go back to songs like Troublemaker, Pork & Beans, and Dreamin as much as I do any of my favorite songs on Pinkerton or Blue so I don't get why Red gets so much hate....

 

Because that’s only 3 songs from an album

 

Greatest Man, Pork and Angel are the only ones on the proper album I listen to. Sweeney is the only bonus track I skip.

That I love the same number of bonus songs as I do regular album songs only further hurts it tbh, cause it's just like "why the fuck weren't these on the proper album over the 3 songs sung by the other guys" lol

 

Would you like me to summarize every time someone referenced liking a song off of Red in this thread? Would that make you happy? Would that be good for you?
