The dude has been pretty up-front about wanting to come back once he gets his shit together. I think if i heard correctly the Pats were helping him out with rehab and he's been working out at the TB12 spot too.

Preston Smith is the first FA I’m grumpy about missing out on. I don’t think there’s any pass rusher left that I’m excited about and that’s definitely the biggest need this offseason. I guess a bounceback from Ansah or a prayer that Houston can transition to 4-3 is the next best choice

I didn't follow it super close, but that was the gist of it from what I've skimmed over...

 

It's probably impossible but he's worth a 2 million dollar shot in the dark in the hopes he can come back. Honestly, talent aside, i just want the dude to be okay. He seems like a good dude that has just always had troubles.

 

The Pats put a 2nd round tender on him, so teams sure as hell aren't going to even call his agent about him.
