Earl getting $15 million per year would still be the highest paid safety, so I'm sure he'll get that somewhere. Hopefully just not here.

Yay! Trey Flowers getting PAID and leaving the AFC East is great news for me.

 

The idea of OBJ in a Niner uniform is pretty great, but at what cost? I really don't want them to have to deal the 2nd pick (as has been rumored in some stories) since the draft is so replete with edge rushers, and they very much need help there. They set a league record for fewest picks in a season (2! How is that even possible??!!), in part because no one could get pressure on the QB.

That Collins deal is ridiculous.

Also, with the Alexander signing, three of the five highest-paid 49ers are currently rehabbing a torn ACL.

 

If Collins returns to elite and plays at that level for 3-5 years, then it will be a steal of a contract.

Otherwise, it feels like overpaying banking/praying on that happening.

 

$15 million/year for a safety who can't really cover is not a steal of a contract under any circumstances

 

That's why I said "If Collins returns to elite"

 

Kareem Jackson will be the best value signing at safety for whoever gets him

 

if he returns to elite its a fair contract, not a steal

also he was only really elite for one year

 

If he's elite in 3-5 years, then he'll be getting 8th-10th overall per year for a safety for elite play, which is a steal. The cap is always rising. We'll have a $20 million safety within 5 years.

yes thats all well and good that the salary cap rises every year, but you can make that argument for any free agent signing ever

still doesn't make that a remotely good contract for what Landon Collins is
