His girlfriend Chelsea does the majority of the talking during their podcasts. They do topics one week and a review the following...that’s their podcast cycle. I tend to only listen to their reviews because they choose older films that you don’t hear about a lot anymore like the original Wrong Turn, The Stuff, & Final Destination (which he needs to do a kill count for, as well as the TCM & Wishmaster franchises). I listened to their review for cry_wolf earlier during work...that was a fun listen that took me back to the mid-00’s when AIM was life lol

I can see the role playing potential in that

 

Rewatching Ghost Ship. Only at the iconic opening scene but I love everything about it down to the font used for the opening credits and the wire scene is just gnarly. One of my favorite opening scenes ever.

 

Rewatched Fire in the Sky tonight. This movie fascinated me as a kid but was too young to see it in theaters. I haven’t read the book it’s based on but long ago learned the movie differentiated from the guy’s account (notably he encountered other living humans aboard the ship). Still the scenes are creepy as hell

 

This movie is one of my earliest memories of being terrified. That giant needle going into his eye. Fuck.....

 

lol that was last week’s topic on the Dead Meat Podcast. I saw that fucking movie in the theater and haven’t revisited it since. This podcast took me back though...early 00’s horror was so odd

 

I remember really liking that Mudvayne song in it

 

It holds up imo better than a lot from that era of horror. That opening scene truly deserves all the recognition. I guess the crew members who are not Julianna marguiles are kinda whatever, but I rly like the unfolding of the mystery of the ship. If I ever had a podcast which I never will lmao it would be solely to discuss horror from the 00s. My faves aren't from that era but it's my bread and butter! Which is a weird turn of phrase now that I'm typing it out.

 

I remember that era really loved muted colors, jittery camera shots/movements, and nu-metal soundtracks

 

I remember being so hyped when one of the Saw movies featured the Used lmao. And I used to like sitting for the House of Wax credits cause they played mcr

 

All I remember about horror in the early 2000s is The Ring scarred me for life.

 

I love watching movies from that era I remember fondly, only to realize they are not very good.

Anyone remember Darkness Falls?

 

She fucked me up big time. Movie sucks now, but as a kid this one was scary.

Yeah, I was listening to the podcast at work today and I actual pondered to myself if anyone remembered that movie. Another lost “gem” I saw in the theaters during that dull-colored, “gross is glam” era with the heaviest god awful soundtracks

 

And early 2000’s was when Canada tried making another big horror comeback too
