I don’t know why it took me so long to put this on but wow. That’s all I can say.

I’ve always considered them one of my favorite bands even though I never gave BMT, YAMS, or Ixora a good chance. Like I don’t dislike those albums I just never put them on and can’t say I really know the songs.

So what’s the story with the drummer? He left the band? That’s a bummer, the drums were some of my favorite parts of In Motion and ESR

So I've never really gotten into Copeland, but decided to give this album a try. Oh man, I am loving it! Want to try to branch out to some of their other stuff now. Any recommendations on which album(s) to start with?

  12. Going backwards from here is a good way to go if this one got you into them.

    Are we about to kiss?

If you dig the vibe of this one, I'd just work backwards. "Ixora" is the previous record and the most similar to "Blushing".

Anyone else going to see them at the Bottom Lounge next month? I'm super excited to hear these new songs live. Copeland live is always... bigger. I hope they play Colorless or Strange flower; you just know those outros are going to explode.

Album is still amazing and “As Above, So Alone” and “Skywriter” are still my favorites.

"Skywriter" just doesn't do much for me at all. Also don't like the chorus of "Suddenly" not a huge fan of the vocal delivery. Love pretty much everything else on here.

The music in the second half of Suddenly is one of my favourite parts of the album though.

It's funny, when it was first released I had mixed feelings about it. Now that we have the album to digest in full, and I can hear the song in context, it's perhaps my favorite track on the record. It has that 22amillion vibe, mixed with some real chill lo-fi shit. You know the kind; that comes up on YouTube for "music to study to" haha. Like Nujabes.

Anyway, my point is, this is why I have always been and continue to be an "album guy". I can never predict which songs are going to stick with me until I have a finished record in my hands, and then suddenly (heh) it all clicks. I could probably write several paragraphs about "On Your Worst Day", but for now I'll just say that I absolutely adore how the song begins with a distant preview of two different piano hooks, that later on in the song add a gorgeous background to the final couple minutes. It's quite literally an instance of showing someone something that they won't appreciate until it's brought back for the second round, and then it just feels perfect. All the while it almost sounds like Copeland is looping samples, but it's actually their own damn composition. Genius.
