I was thinking about it, but I wasn't crazy about Green City last year. Brewery list was great, but they could have found a better location/run it better for the ticket price.

The brewery you’re referring to here has gotta be Carton right?

Edit: wtf happened when I was typing this

Troon is who we were discussing and who I was on the side of. The older brewery that shit on them before they even opened was Climax.

Carton most definitely does not make shit beer. And Augie can be a bit much sometimes, but he would never attack a young brewer over the things that Climax did.

Sorry - meant “referring to” not “defending.”

    Comepltely forgot about Climax lol.

Oh yeah personally I enjoy Carton too. But I know they get pretty snarky surrounding NEIPAs and all that jazz (though I always assumed it was more lighthearted), and there aren't a ton pre-boom NJ breweries it could have been hah

Kane is great, and been hearing a lot of good stuff about Icarus. They're bringing Bourbon Barrel-Aged Kalashnikoffee and Touching the Sun.

The Kane bottles I have tried have all been great, not something I see in CA often however

same. I feel like I can handle one or two adjunct-filled beers a day. anything more than that (even sample sized) is just asking for trouble. my whole body hates me.

Hudson Valley's sours are delicious, but there's something about that lactose and all the fruit that throws me off.

They don't leave the state at all. The little bit that goes around here is only draft and a few cans. I have 3 more bottles coming your way once it stops being a winter hellscape here.

Much love! As always, let me know if anything out in this area piques your fancy!

Touching the Sun is maybe the best beer they've ever made, in my opinion. Both are good though.

I checked it in twice and gave it 4 and 4.25 and I think that’s about right. I’d rather trade for a whole hosts of beers but it just doesn’t match the hype at all, IMO.

I'd never trade for it thats for sure. The same way I'd never trade for fresh two hearted but both beers are just classic examples of what their style should be. (yes I know two hearted is an ipa and pliney is a dipa but you get my point). Also I don't know how fresh you got it Mike. But on tap at Toronado in San Francisco with a little South of Heaven playing the background. Great time.

Speaking of two hearted have you tried the double version? I think Bells stopped distribution here for some dumb reason. I heard a rumor or maybe it's an urban legend I don't know but the bar that I use to live near Joe's Inn apparently sold the most bells two hearted in the country. It was always the freshest there and it was $5.

Double Two Hearted is INCREDIBLY sweet, imo. Wasn’t a huge fan. Bells pulled out of Virginia. One of their distributors sold to another distributor and bells puts in their contracts that if this happens they have to have advanced notice to vet the new distributor and they weren’t given that. However Virginia laws are weird and distributors own the rights to each brewery they sign in perpetuity so bells just said fuck it and pulled out of the state of Virginia.

Bell’s Brewery pulls out of Virginia over distribution dispute; we discuss it with Larry Bell (+ other distribution news)

As far as trading for Pliny, it doesn’t come to the Midwest or northeast which is were @BlueEyesBrewing is. I wouldn’t trade for the beer. The ones I had were both about two weeks fresh because they were brought back by people who went to California.

Y’all get dark horse down there? My untappd check in was just “if you’ve had double crooked tree you’ve had double two hearted.”

Drinks more like a hoppy light barleywine if I recall correctly. But I also don’t think I’ve had it sober. If I had the opportunity I’d have it again. I’d have it way before Pliny ;)

Yes we do get dark horse. I'm sure I've had double crooked tree at some point. That is disppointing to here. Now I'm glad Bells pulled out of VA. Trash brewery.

Eh. I’m on the breweries side with this. Breweries, as I understand it, don’t have any leverage down there. Bells did the same thing in Chicago years ago and went back eventually. Not that I’m crying over Bells not getting what they want, though. I feel for the other distributors that were hurt by this move in the rest of the state though. That sucks for sure.

Yeah I'm just kidding. They should definitely do what's best for their company. I can't hate on that. More just sucks because I loved going to Joe's to get a Two Hearted. It was some what of a tradition for me.

My older brother went out to go pick up the Lucky Charm beer today and he said the line wrapped around the building twice so he just drove by and hopes to get it for him (and me) later.
