I hope they don't ruin NXT lol

  2. living the gimmick but Stroud with some truth in his Best and Worst this week (https://uproxx.com/prowrestling/wwe...ano-tommaso-ciampa-aleister-black-ricochet/5/)

There’s a clear difference between what works for a 1-hour show in front of more or less the same 200 people every week and what works for multiple 3-hour shows in front of thousands multiple times a week dependent on keeping TV networks and sponsors happy. Just wanted to say that out-loud. But one of the strangest things about NXT and now the Performance Center being “developmental” is that it rarely seems to train them to do what works in front of those thousands on those shows. There are some exceptions that work in both, like Seth Rollins, but the list of bodies in the character graveyard are so much bigger. Look at the problems The Revival have had trying to get wrestling over on the wrestling show. Look at how long it took (or arguably, “is taking”) Big E. Look at how badly Drew McIntyre’s looked the past couple of months, despite being a booker’s dream. Then look at Bobby Roode, or Chad Gable, or Bo Dallas, or The Ascension or No Way Jose or Sanity or The Authors of Pain or Apollo Crews. Look at goddamn Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family. Look at how quickly they extinguished Braun Strowman’s flame. Look at the people who aren’t around anymore, like Neville, or Emma, or Austin Aries, or Adam Rose.

I really worry about an extra hour. The 1 hour a week format is brilliant. Nobody over stays their welcome, no segments ever go too long.

Also without being live on TV, 2 hours of NXT would be longer than Smackdown in terms of content. I really hope it's not a TV deal and they take it off the network or give it a months wait.

I really liked his write up for this week. Addressing all of the problems right off the bat was nice.

I was gonna say, a 2 hour live show would be about what the 1-hour taped show is, basically. Not to mention they could run 205 Live consecutively with it to prop it up as a live show.

The current 1-hour format doesnt work when you've got SOOO many people not getting TV time. NXT is the only promotion in the world that would put 2 months between Keith Lee matches, for example. They've got tons of jobber fodder to keep building new characters, and the NA title can be defended more regularly. They've hired a bunch of producers for NXT lately...I figured it was to scale up the show

If that is the case, it won't be this upcoming taping. They film tomorrow and don't have another date until late March. I don't think they announce an in between show.

woah idk a 2 hour show would change a lot. I think for the worse. A lot of what makes NxT work is the fact no one is over exposed and everyone remains special

Serious question based solely off that Brandon Stroud rundown and all the people (including myself) complaining about the shit crowd last night: Would WWE be better served if they stuck to the same 10-15 big market cities/arenas for Raw and SmackDown every single week? I'm thinking places like New York, Chicago, Orlando, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Denver, New Orleans, etc etc etc.

Whether you love or hate the NXT crowd, you have to admit that their familiarity with the current storylines often do heighten said storylines. Not to say that the crowds are anywhere close to being the issue for current storylines on WWE, but could that be an added boon/one less thing to worry about?

Curious if ticket sales would decrease or stay the same if they were hitting the same 15 towns over and over again for TV. On the flip side, though, perhaps it would help increase sales for live events, where you could continue to go to these smaller cities. I'm personally more in line with Daniel Bryan in that the live events are an outdated model and not worth the stress on the performers for how small the crowds currently tend to be, but perhaps something like that could spike attendances because of how less often WWE is coming around?

I don't hate this, assuming everything about NXT remains the same (same bookers, producers, atmosphere, etc). Shit, just keep filming it ahead of time from Full Sail and air it right after RAW. My fear, though, would be that 3 hours of wrestling in a single day is still A LOT of wrestling to consume and sit through. And if RAW isn't phenomenal, how many people are going to sit through it just for NXT (or remember to come back for NXT at 10 PM)? By all accounts, 205 Live is a great show, and nobody was tuning in for it after SmackDown, which is also the better of the main shows. 205 Live didn't have the history or built-in audience of NXT, but I'd still be concerned about that.

i think it makes everyone who's been announced as a call up in the past 2 months or so all seem the same. Like, they didn't make anyone from EC3, Riccochet, Gagrano, Ciampa, Black standout. Very very weak job all around.

Gargano/Ciampa defeating your tag team champs should be a big deal, except they've completely butchered the Revival...

EC3 defeating a former champion in Dean Ambrose should also be a big deal, except we all know he's leaving...

Ricochet's debut felt like it had the most oomph out of anyone's in the recent call-ups

Yea, I don't understand how that's the way you present him

Like he should've showed up during a random cena promo as a surprise so people popped for it and not announced in the intro of raw like a circus act

While I would like them to use an hour of raw for NXT or 205, I think the “casual” audience would tune out for it. Maybe after a while they’d come around.

3rd hour of raw being NXT would be super interesting. Triple H called NXT the third brand last night no? Perhaps just treat NXT as the same level of Raw and SmackDown rather than being a minor league sort of deal. Man idk, but that 'special announement' really intrigues me. Idk if this shit happens without AEW building steam.
