At Dashcon, after the event started, the hotel it was at demanded another 17k for the event to keep running. So the people started asking the attendees to donate, who then in turn called their parents to donate, who then in turn called the front desk of the hotel to ask for more info. LMAO.

 

As somebody who has been to a lot of cons in my life, I first and foremost can't believe the ticket for the first year of this con, with no major backing is....$65-$80??

Yeah, it's terrible. I can definitely see myself as one of those teens falling for this stuff, except back when Livejournal was a thing (lol). The community aspect if really powerful, just sucks those kids were the victims of the fallout. Where did the money go?

yep, and as @oldjersey pointed out earlier as well, they tried to raise the money for what was promised as the event was going on. So the event basically turned into one big begging session.
