It was a couple listens before I realized what Aaron was saying in the background of the chorus of Skywriter, and the revelation was chill-inducing.... “I’m deadweight”.

3019? I mean I agree it sounds futuristic, but damn.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Haha I mean it sound like what the “mainstream” would sound like (if we ever get there lol)

By that time it’ll be simplistic and run of the mill

    The rivalry is back on

I really like “Strange Flower”, “Night Figures”, and “Pope”

Everything else just kinda blends together and I find myself zoning out, which is really a bummer

This album is far too risque for the waiting room I listened to it in

My buddy Adam did a nice little track by track thought I’d share.

"Pope" the Dialogue gives me chills. Massive Radiohead vibes in the midsection of the song, and at the end

"Lay Here" This song officially pulled me in. Love the 80's vibes in the bass

"So Above, So Alone"- when the guitar comes in and brings back the bigger sound with 2 minutes to go was such a nice highlight to this song. The heavy piano fillers are fantastic

"Suddenly" Love that the vocal effects are apparently going to carry accross the entire record. The trumpet was a nice touch. Loved the bassline throughout the horn section, as well. Loved the abruptness of the music cutting out into "And suddenly you're not a smile on the screen"

"Night Figures" Fantastic transition into this song. "You're emotionless just like me" Great line. Loved the "yeah" into the Chorus. The "bells?" that struck as the second verse kicked in. The production on the last minute or so of the song made it feel like a proper pop song. Again loved the ABRUPT ending. I feel like abrupt has been a word that keeps coming to mind.

"Skywriter" Sigur Ros vibes with the strings and music in general up through the second verse. Young Summer reminds me of Lana Del Rey. Interested to check out her other stuff. I was impresed with the length of her guest spot. I thought after the first couple of lines she'd be done, and then went into an entire verse

"Colorless" The falsetto on the chorus is everything. Chills all over. Like how the song fully kicks in following the second falsetto, but then drops out before the second verse begins. Loved the chaotic guitar with the random horn touches in the bridge.

"On Your Worst Day" Big Bon Iver vibes on the beginning of the track. Loved the plucked strings when "You never kiss me when we're dancing" begins. "I just wanna make you smile on your worst day" while not too complex of lyrics, is very easy to relate to for anyone in love. Got some Kid A vibes right before those lyrics began.

"Strange Flower" Loved the percussion additions in this song. I loved when the acoustic guitar came in with about 2 minutes left. It almost sounded like a song split into two different parts.

"It Felt So Real" Nice little interlude, and a nice touch to keep the album narrative going. Loved when the heavy synth came in.

"Waltz On Water" Another song with fantastic basslines. Great tone on the bass as well (which we've discussed is pretty standard and expected for Copeland records)

My buddy compared the genre-bending on this album to Sampha and it’s the closest thing I know to compare this to at this point. Emo R&B electronica.

I’m usually pretty off on these things, but it reminds me a lot of the softer moments on Blonde

Hahah like I said I’m not often good at comparisons so don’t put too much stock in it!! But that’s the feeling I get from it, especially on a personal level

It's like Lavender but more mellow and more kinda nasty and sensual, like a Voodoo vibe

Blonde comparison is not a bad one. Vibes similar to the Seigfried / Godspeed / Futura Free, or maybe close to you.
