Incredible for Bobby Kotick, who makes $30M a year, to say “hey good news, we’re swimming in more money than we ever have been” before laying off 800 employees.

 

am I the only one who thinks downgrades aren’t that big of a deal

Finished ac origins. Overall a very solid game with some weak design here and there. Side quest design was super weak which in turn made the pacing feel off because it made grinding levels a complete chore, so level gating the main quest became annoying. But the main quest was great, map was amazing, combat felt good, and there was plenty to do besides side quests. Climbing towers in ac never gets old for me tbh.

 

I've been on a break from AC but that has inspired me to get back to it!

i wanna try odyssey out really badly now but i know i should take a break before burning out on ac, especially since im also playing far cry 5 right now and dont want complete ubisoft burnout

 

Odyssey is considerably worse than origins.

Odyssey is such a frustrating game. There is a lot of stuff it does really really well. Sneaking around stabbing stuff is fun. Combat is fun. Climbing stuff is fun. Story is pretty good.

But it also feels very repetitive in a lot of places. Systems like the global Athens vs Sparta conflict aren't really carried out to its fullest potential. (would be nice to just tell on the map what are the Athens controlled bases and what are the Sparta controlled stuff). Little things like how even on my PS4 Pro it still somethings taking 20+ seconds to load a conversation. Auto save feature is poor and I've lost 10+ minutes of running around the map before. I haven't yet been able to tell which quests are the actually unique ones that are worth doing and which are just 'lol get a canned line of dialog telling you to deliver this thing'...

Its still a fun game. But feels like with a bit more effort, vision and commitment to polish it could've been something great and instead its just a fine way to pass the time but a good way to leave yourself wishing you were back playing HZD or BOTW.

 

AC burnout is very real, I've had to take couple week breaks mid-game since like AC3. Then I come back and get hooked back in. And yea I don't think it's a great idea to play multiple Ubisoft games at once.

 

i feel like at any given time theres 4 or more ubisoft games in my backlog or currently playing

 

i was spinning my wheels on clearing and completing the outposts before i move on to the main missions but it seems repeatable if you take it over for spartans/athenians. i thought doing the spartans vs athenians conflict battle was a one and done thing but you can apparently just repeat it? it was very confusing.

 

Haha I've been just consistently playing Assassin's Creed since AC3. That came out at the start of college so my free time went down and I have yet to successfully catch up so I've played all of them but I'm always like one game behind and just move right from one to the next. Throw in the occasional Far Cry and I'm right there with you.

 

oh also I forgot my biggest gripe with the game:

on multiple instances, I've cleared a location. Then gotten a quest that requires me to get something from that location. And gone back and suddenly its full of enemies again and the work I did to clear it doesn't matter anymore. Makes me feel like I just wasted my time clearing the location. worst was I was off looking for one of the cultist, had a hint saying he was in a quarry in one of the regions so cleared out one of the quarrys looking for him. He's not there, whatever, can't figure out how to get another clue so go hunt down some cultists I actually know where they are. Which gives me the actual location of the cultist I was looking for before. Which is back at the quarry I cleared off. Which is of course no longer cleared.

So yeah. Way to punish exploration and adventuring and instead get your players to only do exactly what they are told.

 

i found it very hard to get into horizon zero dawn tbh. something about the way it feels didnt really grab me. im sure ill try it again some time and get sucked in but i had to ditch it after like 3-5 hours

 

Exact same thing happened to me. I’m not sure if I just had open world fatigue or what

 

i thought that mightve been it but i got sucked right into origins and far cry 5 so i dunno

 

playing Hitman has reminded me I'm a real sucker for that gameplay loop of retrying the same thing over and over again until you get it juuuuust right

Call Of Duty's 2019 Title Will Have A Single-Player Campaign

Interesting. So it’ll have a campaign, regular PvP, and a “new co-op mode.” Going to have to wait and see what becomes of Blackout, I guess.
