Reminder: Riley said directly to me that it didn't go over that well in the live environment. So, they shelved it far more than they should have. You're thinking of things as they are, not how they were. So, don't shoot the messenger.

But the point still stands, the phase 1 fans of the band that weren't receptive to their change are likely gone by now. Therefore, the fans still with them are down for just about anything they do, such as the inclusion of songs that wouldn't fly in their live sets a decade ago.

Also, tone is easily misunderstood online.

I can't get over how good these guys were. By far my number one live band right now.. Any worries we had about Dustin are laid to rest he was incredible.. Long defeat, hurricane, stay with me, death from above were all incredible live... So glad to have these additions to the band

I really want to go see them in Detroit next week but thats a 2 and a half hour drive for me and I'd likely be going by myself. I'd love to see them, but I just really don't think I'm comfortable driving all the way to Detroit alone. Maybe I'll luck out and find someone to go with, we'll see.

My buddy just bought me a ticket for their show in SF. Stoked.

Last time I saw them was in SF too at the farewell tour. Perfect.

Great set tonight from the band. I think the sound could have been a bit better. I think it was Dustin's guitar that didn't cut through well and got buried at timas. Otherwise, killer set. Wood And Wire was the highlight for me. I started uncontrollably laughing at how great that new outro was, like holy shit. Other highlights include The Long Defeat and Daedalus.

I wasn't paying attention to the crowd reaction to some of the new songs, but I did notice the crowd was pretty still for Hurricane, which I thought was strange. Stay With Me and Blood On The Sand were both received well though.

Also, fuck those people calling for Deadbolt. I was surprised when Dustin said Philly was the first place to ask for it like that on the tour so far. I couldn't hear what he said after Deadbolt was chanted for for a second time.

Anyway, good show for the most part. Would love to see them again soon.

well they've chosen to play some very old material on tour since they've reunited and obviously on their farewell tour which they released as a live album. so people have a half excuse to be a dumbass and shout deadbolt more than before. I haven't seen thrice in 8 years but their set lists recently (before this tour) are keeping me from making it a priority with including IOS songs and stuff

The setlist on this tour actually surprised me. I expected to see State At The Sun and All That's Left on the setlist since their setlists were heavy on TAITA last year. It was nice to see those two not make it. I love Silhouette and The Artist In The Ambulance is a staple I'm okay with. Cold Cash And Colder hearts is one of my favorites from the album so I was more than okay with that one. In Years To Come is really the only song I wish they didn't play. I'd have rather seen them play another cut from Beggars. I think Beggars (the song itself) would have fit in nicely in place of In Years To Come.

What the bleep are you talking about. They played one song from that record... And they played two songs from artists... So that's 17 songs from Vheissu on

In Years To Come is literally the best song in the setlist for me sentimentally so I will have ZERO discussion of it not being included. ;-)

I just noticed that you said before this tour.. But I will say that I think they are moving away from making the older stuff a priority

even that's 3 songs too many for me anyway lol

I actually thought in years to come sounded incredible.. It's a poppier song from that record and fit in nicely with their newer stuff.. That bridge at the end is incredible live too.

Lol most bands you are lucky to see play 16-17 songs a night so it's still worth a 25 dollar ticket. And I bet if you heard those older songs live with the way the band plays now and Dustins voice you would probably be able to enjoy it

I think it's an okay song. I actually don't think it fit in the setlist too well, but agree to disagree. I definitely think The Beltsville Crucible would have been cooler to see in that spot before The Earth Will Shake.

Last defense I'll make for the song. It's short (under 3 minutes) the breakdown interlude is cool live, always nice to see them go nuts. And I think his voice sounded really cool at the end of the song. Anyway show was amazing... Like I would spend $25 just to hear Daedalus

They've said multiple times for years that they're never playing The Beltsville Crucible, but I swear it gets brought up every single tour.

Daedalus was a highlight for me last night. That's my second favorite song they've ever done so I'm really glad it stuck around. When I saw that they cut it for Beggars a few nights ago I was so conflicted because Beggars is an amazing song too, but I was like "But I wanna see Daedalusssss" haha

I think they've said that they only like the breakdown, maybe? I saw them talk about it on the Reddit AMA the other day.
