I'm going to point this out every fucking time lol.

 

I think anyone with half a brain knows that Trump won't follow through with any of this shit...what bothers me is that his rhetoric and attempt towards such policies will empower local terrorist organization, including racist police forces and white supremacists groups. It will not be a fun four years for non-white americans.

And I say this knowing full well that such groups have increased membership in record numbers while we have had one of the most progressive presidents of all time in office.

 

They're on the same continuum within American politics. Vote for whomever you like, but the decision is not a moral one regardless of how some people would like to frame it. Hillary Clinton wants to put a rapist in charge of the economy, for example. She also participated in Donald Trump's Islamphobic remarks, whilst calling for bombing ISIS, which usually means bombing civilians. To use the saying that is oft repeated, a lesser evil is still evil.

 

I'm not trying to get into this argument (again) atm but I remembered that that quote is oft attributed to the One and Only and can't pass up the opportunity

We agree 100% on this, I even pointed out how disgusting it was that Hillary's speech following Orlando was to increase miltarism in the Middle East.

My focus is that Hillary and her supporters do not behave or condone the behavior that we see at Trump rallies. Where POC are made to feel unsafe. Where shirts are sold alluding to Bill Clinton's misogyny (thus subversively empowering rape culture). Where things like this are said:

That's what I'm saying. Show me this at a Hillary rally. The RNC is going with their outsider, the DNC went with their hawkish centrist. But that still puts a huge gap between the two candidates on said political specturm.

 

Farage is essentially the face of the far right in this country. That poster is disgraceful and a desperate attempt to try and win votes for the Brexit campaign. I really hope he never gets a sniff of power.

As someone who has always been fascinated by Robespierre, I asked my French transfer friends about how he is viewed, in an historical light, in France. To somewhat of a surprise, they said he's typically viewed as a positive historical figure: as a necessary evil. It's amazing how much more layered and nuanced France's view of, and cynicism towards, their own history is compared to the very black-and-white American narratives.
