  7. What’s the current plan for the insurance jobs that would be lost? Last time I looked that was like 2.5m jobs. I don’t think I’ve seen much about the current thinking for that in anyone’s plan.

Didn't someone in here try to defend Tulsi because she had 'grown' on the LGBTQ+ subject? That aged well.

Someone just called my mom to say that there was an active shooter at her office, she’s out to lunch with me and I’m freaking out. No idea what’s going on and it hasn’t hit the news yet.

I'd think the influx of everyone moving to M4A would create more federal insurance jobs, no? Keep the buildings and the jobs, but now they fall under one "company" (the US govt) instead of several private companies. But I'm sure it's also not quite so black and white :P

[Stefon voice] I'm talking about one of the most exclusive nightclubs in the city, called Human Wall. Shirtless male models stacked on top of each other along the exterior. This place has everything. Clones, freaks, sneezing, a Russian man on a prepaid cell phone, and anyone can get in — there’s no password. At the door, just do the Cosby face.

  24. If my history memory is working, what I remember is that when Medicare was first brought in, to sign people up, there was a lot of temporary jobs created to do that work. So, I'm sure that would also be the case here for a while as well, but from my little bit of research already, there's also a lot of insurance jobs that would not be recreated.

From some reading this morning, basically this argument is part of what helped sink Hillary/Bill's first attempt at health care reform.

Conyers M4A plan specifically sets aside $20 billion to help displaced workers find new jobs. Because:
Physicians for a National Health Program, which advocates for a single payer system, estimates it would cost $20 billion to retrain and place displaced workers.

Bernie's plan, from what I can tell:
the bill allows up to one percent of the national health budget to be allocated to programs that provide assistance to workers in the field of health insurance administration who may experience displacement because of the Act. This budget allowance is authorized for the first five years that the UMP is in place.

Some economists argue that the move to m4a will make the economy stronger in the long run, decoupling jobs from insurance helps with mobility and mobility helps with increase in pay/jobs, but there would be short term pain for a lot of workers.

Looks like 2.66m 'health insurance' related jobs in the US right now.

Estimates are that 200-300k would be 'lost' at first but could be shifted to other insurance jobs.

A lot of these jobs are in Philly, a city/state vital to any Democrat winning the Presidency. So, someone is gonna make an argument to them at some point.

Also came across this while looking for information and hadn't thought about that either.
