The RNC is going to approve Drumpf, he's their best shot of getting into the White House. Going against him is political suicide at this point, they literally have no one who can compete against him.

 

Every time I wish to meaningfully organize outside of campaign work with Independent or Democratic campaigns, I get disheartened because of the utter lack of left organization in the United States outside of the DSA, which is very modest and sparsely organized itself.

It's unbelievable to me that a banner hasn't been raised under the name of social democracy in the United States. I had been a member of DSA during college, but, as I am not a socialist, even that is not an ideal fit.

Touching on Bernie's speech last night - has anyone here ever considered running for local office or entering politics in some form?

 

I'd like to see socialists organize and run in the rust belt, where I live. I used to run some local Democrats' races when I still considered myself a Democrat. It felt like there were a lot of people who are radical by national party standards, but supported local Democrats because that was who they had to support and organize for due to lack of options. I wouldn't want to run for office because I'm a white man and feel like maybe I shouldn't say "hey everyone, I'm the voice of something different, I promise!" but I have some organizing and campaigning skills that I'd love to contribute to someone else's efforts. The Midwest just seems like fertile ground for it: you have a lot of people living in the economic and cultural fallout / bombed out wasteland left behind by capitalists, where their parents once had "good jobs".

I thought about running for office. But, I think my affinity for Robespierre, Lenin, and thinking that all police departments are just another terrorist organization that should be taken down violently, wouldn't win anyone over.

Yeah. a centralized location for hunting rifles sounds like an obvious target for a robbery. You could make a hunting license a pre-requisite for obtaining a license to own a semi-automatic rifle?

Ehhh, I am going to disagree with you here. I don't think Trump's opposition actually believe that Trump is going even attempt to build a wall or even if he believes that it is the right solution to what he sees as a big problem. But, the mere introduction of such a policy in a presidential election shows that trump has a profound misunderstanding of the way the world works and shows a complete disregard for the social, legal, and practical consequences of introducing such an insane notion to his supporters.

In CA, illegal immigrants can obtain driver's licenses and drive on the roads, which cause all sorts of bad shit to happen. I'm against this, big time, and Trump would be the only candidate who would probably do something about this.

 

I think no Californian should be able to get a license until they learn how to merge properly, specifically in LA.

Not sure about CA law, I assume they have to complete the same legal requirements to obtain a license as anyone else does correct? They have to pass a drivers test etc...?

What kinds of bad shit is the result of allowing the undocumented to obtain driver's licenses that is any different from an average person obtain a driver's license?
