Ended up getting Let's Go! Pikachu. Very addicting. Weird choice to not allow both joycons to be used at once, though.

I kind of love how the wild "battles" are really the only noticeable difference from the Gameboy game that I can tell so far. No more accidentally causing a Pokemon to faint when you're trying to catch it. The gym battles and trainer battles are still there, so it's pretty great.

 

oh yeah, i never use eBay so i never really think about looking through there. Amazon had some ridiculous resale prices.

 

Idk how much you are about this but look into grabbing a homebrew PSP go. I got one for 100 bucks and I put all the GBA games on there that I wanted. They played great and you can save your states and all that good stuff. Great portable item.


EDIT: Looks like there's some original PSP models with homebrew for about 80 bucks on eBay. Not a bad deal at all, I love the PSP screen.

Why have I never thought to look into hacking a PSP??

I have a launch version that’s been sitting in a drawer for like 10 years. From a quick glance I’m pretty sure it’s on a workable fw, too.

Guess I know what I’m doing tonight/tomorrow now

 

That's awesome you have one still. You're about to give that one a complete second life. It's most definitely on a workable fw if it's been a decade haba

 

Damn, now I wish I didnt trash my PSP. The disc drive stopped working so I tried taking it apart aand... It never turned back on again. I was in middle school, no idea what I was doing lol.

Spent two hours this morning trying to figure out why my PSP won't connect to WiFi. Finally figured it out only to discover the latest fw file is like half a MB too big for my 32MB memory card...lol.

 

That's legitimately my life.

 

currently trying to decide if I want to just order a pre-hacked Go like @oldjersey was talking about or try to find a bigger MS Duo card...doesn't look like I'm making any progress today either way, so I might as well go the cheaper route and look for a card...unless there are any advantages to choosing the go over the 1000?

 

Hm. I've always heard the go is the perfect emulation machine. Why? I couldn't tell you but I'm sure you could research it.

 

i'm honestly leaning that way because of the size and bluetooth capability...but also...i never had a sidekick when i was younger and i really feel like i missed out on the whole slider phone craze..lol

I know that there's a whole reddit community and one thread in particular that provides all the software and how to guides to get a huge amount of emulators working on a Vita to play PSP, PS1 and I think SNES, GBA and Unity games. I have heard good things about emulation on the PSPGo, but after playing with a Vita, I could never go back to a smaller and cheap feeling handheld.

 

Amazon still has that price as well, at least last I checked the other day

 

Am I the only one who actually finds it easier to catch Pokemon with the Joycon rather than in standalone in Let's Go? For some reason I can never time them just right with the A button, but I get a Nice throw every time with it docked

 

Has anyone tried a third party gamecube adapter for the switch? The Nintendo ones still aren't in stock anywhere as far as I know.

 

Yeah mine works great. Thought the rumble was broken until I learned MK8 doesn't support it, but works great for Smash.
