  1. Sometimes I feel like part of it is Mark and Travis are lazy and don't feel like relearning some songs.

So many songs they practiced that would have been great additions:

    Easy Target
    Heart's All Gone
    Pathetic
    Going Away To College
    Wendy Clear
    Dysentery Gary
    Don't Leave Me
    After Midnight
    She's Out Of Her Mind
    Rabbit Hole
    Wishing Well

I think part of the problem is just that they tour so infrequently anymore that it's not really in their best interest to throw in a lot of deep cuts. That's usually for bands who tour more often and need to change up their set. For the average person who isn't a super fan, the opportunity to see blink only comes around every few years so they most likely just want to hear blink... they don't care as much about getting songs like "Apple Shampoo" or "Every Time I Look For You". The majority of people want to hear the staples if they might not get to see the band again for a few years.

Take a band like 311 for example who haven't missed a summer tour in 25 years. Even though they have enough singles for a greatest hits show and also play 20-song sets, they'll play nearly 100 different songs throughout the tour. They tour so much that casual fans will just go to the next show to try and hear a single if they missed it.

I really think we should calm down. Some of those other rehearsed songs are bound to make their way in eventually.

Most of those are pretty common staples of their shows, they'll all get in there at some point.

  7. I think the problem is that most of us might get one or two of those songs on our date, but we'd probably all like to see each and every one

Seeing them next week would be fine with that set list

I think they should focus more on fans getting to see something rare rather than missing out on something they do all the time. Like I've only ever seen Brand New live once and they didn't play Quiet Things but they played Flying at Tree Level which I thought was pretty cool. Would anyone really be that disappointed if they didn't do Always or Down and did something less common?

  10. obviously i'd go no matter what, but i'd like to not be able to predict the entire setlist, even without seeing it.

  11. Or even if they did a tour where they announce that they'll be playing deeper cuts or something so people will know in advance. they'd still sell tickets just as easily, i'm sure.

I complain about their setlist but would definitely go batshit crazy if I got to see it live.

This is exactly what I have been hoping they would do ever since they reunited.

Can someone explain to me what kind of show it was last night? I know it's not on their main tour schedule. Was it a festival or something? I couldn't find any info online.

Last night was a one-off headliner in an amphitheater. They are doing a number of headliner shows in between festival dates over the next couple of weeks.

Yeah I'm not even trying to be an obnoxious super fan saying OMG PLAY FLYSWATTER!!!1111 or whatever but surely getting a unique experience is a good selling point for tickets rather than like 30 nights of the same thing over and over. If they played Every time I Look For You it's not like everyone would suddenly start streaming to the exits haha.

  20. maybe Mark and Travis want to do that too, but don't want to make Matt learn a million more songs at this time. who knows.

If there's one thing I can say is that I think Travis is anything but lazy.

Not related, but I'm rewatching this piece of history right now. Feels so good to listen to songs like Wasting Time being played live:

  22. Alkaline Trio did a tour last year where they played all 8 of their albums across 4 different nights. Now I know that those songs were written by Matt in the first place, but it's proof enough that the guy doesn't have issues with remembering how to play tons of songs.

  23. exactly. and shit. i'd lose my mind if they played the set list from the last few tours plus "every time i look for you" thrown in there.

  24. right, but it's a lot easier to remember songs you've written than a load of other band's songs. but yeah, i used to think it was Tom's lack of practice that kept the band from playing deeper cuts, but now that he's gone and they're still playing mostly the same stuff, i'm starting to see that it might be Mark and Travis making that decision. but probably Mark.

  25. I'm also not saying I would expect Matt to learn the entire Blink discography, but I just want to see a few deep cuts in there so badly!
