The ending of "Work In Progress" still gets to me

i just shouted it so loud when i listened lol

 

i just put on this song cuz its my second favorite behind work in progress and this verse is incredible

 

I always shout that ending and "LIFE GOES ON" in "Catholic Girls" every time I listen

 

catholic girls and knives are the only songs i like on gr but they are fucking good

 

"I'm So Pathetic" is a top TDS song for me in addition to those two. "Knives" is so dark and heavy and something pretty different from the rest of their stuff

 

i was hoping the rest of GR would be more like knives

Me too. An album full of those darker, heavier songs like "Work In Progress" and "Knives" would've been stellar.

Let the record show that I love GR despite its flaws and I recognize that I'm in the minority.

 

I took a trip down south and felt the sun on my face,
and it made things okay for a second.
I drew a picture of my problems when I was going insane.
And I focused on the currents.
It's the funny thing about it,
I never seem to worry that every single current's not the same.

 

Northern Lights is probably my favorite song of theirs or Of Confidence but on the former the way he sings this part kills me:

I saw my share of lights from the sky outside the city.

I found a place to lay inside of the warmth.
That's the way that I spent these last few days of writing all these songs.
I swear to god that I love you, 'cause I can't explain it.

Seriously this song hits me like a ton of bricks.

 

Prolly unpopular opinion, but instead of going grittier on GR, I would've liked to see them go the opposite direction. Even poppier.

 

Isn't this the song that's like "Oh I'll muster every ounce of confidence I have. And cannonball into the water"?
