By coming in here to complain about "political correctness" in the face of accusations of abuse just because you want to talk about the music very clearly lays out where your priorities are wrt the rampant abuse in this music scene. Great for you that you are in a relationship and have a daughter, but that doesn't absolve you of not caring about women you don't know.

 

I love how much everything has got them to this point on American late-night television.

how are past allegations that the band never addressed relevant to the conversation of their success. especially in the context that a lot of this album is around the breakup between him and his ex-wife, with whom there are allegations of domestic violence floating around.

Saying it’s all due to “Political Correctness” is actively dismissing and denegrating the legitimate concerns users have with supporting a person who does these things. You either need to come to terms with your own line and conclusion behavior, or ignore the posts if that’s what you wish.

FWIW I think it’s okay for conversations about music and conversations about allegations to occur concurrently. I don’t think either party deserves to be shamed, everyone has to draw their own line of what to support. I don’t think anyone who wants to reserve judgment unless/until more comes out is a bad person either, and that’s more where I stand in situations like this where there’s not full clarity and some of the allegations are from more than a decade ago.

Why not? If we just let this behaviour and support slide then it just perpetuates the toxic culture. Sure, people can draw their own lines or w/e the fuck, but if you believe differently and just sit aside and don't act against what you think is wrong, that just makes you complicit in the prolonging of an abuser's career.

 

This record gets better with each listen.

Also, I remember being in high school when the allegations about a particular incident occurred. Wasn't there an interview after legal dealings where Oli made a joke out of it?
