Watching “Abducted in Plain Sight” and holy fuck were people dumb in the 70’s.

Not that we’re any smarter now though.

Watching Mindhunter and it's very interesting, but God, the main character Holden has such a bad actor. Just feels very mechanical.

My wife the entire time watching Abducted In Plain Sight (especially when the Dad admitted to giving B a hand job): WTF

    That was wild.

i felt like every ten minutes i said "WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?" out loud and threw my hands up in frustration. those parents made like 15 of the dumbest decisions i have ever heard of people making all within about 4-5 years time.

unique storyline set up, decent execution. didn't really understand the ending and what it all meant though.

    Grade: C

Carrell was great, as always. the rest was "meh" to me. story was pretty typical for family drama dealing with drug abuse. if you've seen any episode of those TLC shows about drugs (like Intervention) this is pretty much the 2 hour version of that. felt way too fucking long but i've seen much worse.

that was fucking awesome. western setting, terrifying at times and yet consistently funny. very well written and Kurt Russell is, of course, a bad ass.

Me! It was ok. I didn't know what to expect, but I had fun with it. It was all over the place, sometimes serious and then the next scene would be super over the top. Ultra violence. I recommend it but don't go in thinking it's anything but a fun time.

Another random thing about the movie is that all the scenery shots are beautiful and look soooo good. Then any shots of the characters just look ok. I wounder if someone else directed those shots haha.

Definitely a hidden gem on Prime. Matthew Fox was great in it too.

Always a big fan of him because of LOST and I agree, he was great here as a selfish, egotistical asshole who was willing to help out.

His lines about being the smartest because he was the only unmarried one lol and his comments as he knew his time was almost up because he’s too vain to live that way were just great

I liked Beautiful Boy too. Anyone seen Ben is Back? Seems like a similar film, though it's not on any streaming services quite yet.

I watched it the other day. The first half was good but I thought the second half sucked. Just went in a weird direction. I liked Beautiful Boy a lot more.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking about using AMC A-List to see it, but I'd have to drive 30 minutes each way to the theater. Guess I'll just wait for a home release.

I finished Conversations with a Killer last night. I thought it was just OK. I didn't really come across anything new that we didn't already know about Ted. It was interesting, but not like 'I lost myself in it and had to keep watching' type of interesting.

One question I had is, and I've yet to watch Mindhunter, but is the last episode of the Bundy doc in reference to what Mindhunter is about? The FBI team that would interview serial killers to try and learn about them? If so, is Bundy a subject in Mindhunter?

Yes, it is. It’s about the start of the study of killers in the 70s from before serial killer was even a term. Very early days kind of stuff and the parts interviewing the killers are really gripping. Bundy is not featured, although there are some fairly famous people in season 1.

Everyone in the first season is already convicted in the 70s, which is how they are able to talk to them. There are some seeds planted for what the future might bring though, and I’m assuming that really huge cases will be discussed if the show makes it that long.

Not to be that guy, but with Beautiful Boy the book was so much more powerful than the movie. It actually took me forever to finish because I'd read 10 pages and get so emotional I'd have to put it down. Recommend giving it a read. I still haven't read Nick's book though.
