Getting near the end of inquisition I think. About 60 hours in. Have so much shit left to do even after I finish this main quest but I really do need to move on and play a new game. I imagine I’ll come back to this and binge on it the way I do skyrim now though.

 

Oh yep just got the classic “finish important stuff because this quest ends the game” text before starting this quest. Let’s go

Flying
The javelins are very varied
Abilities are tied to equipment
Weapons are dope and unconventional takes on classic weapons
World is interesting
I like the hub and the story is delightfully weird

Bad:
Frames. We need more.
Resolution. Not high enough.
Lag and bugs

don't sleep on that DLC my man. Frozen Wilds is probably the best slice of content this gen.

 

i generally liked the time i've spent with the anthem beta. combat is a joy - zipping in and out of flight, dashing around, spamming abilities because their cooldown is so quick, plus the gunplay is really solid. i like the art design a lot, the javelins look great. a little less sold on the world and story so far, it's not bad but it hasn't particularly grabbed me but it's just a tiny slice in the middle of the game so i'm not writing it off at all yet. most of the frustration came from the many technical issues - outside of things like the hub world's framerate being very bad (in addition to moving too slow in it), hitches during regular gameplay/combat, some really awful lag issues, CONSTANT freezing during load screens, my system audio entirely cut out at one point and i tried playing with a few friends but it was impossible for all of us to actually get in a game together and actually load in successfully. i know, it's a beta/demo, they have issues, not the final build of the game, etc etc but it made the act of actually getting to the part where i was having fun shooting things a chore and took away from the experience quite a bit.

still, came away interested in the game, we'll see how it looks to shape up in this last month before release.

also, RE2 is incredible. just a perfect remake, literally everything i could have wanted.

 

the build is 6 weeks old and they have another 4 weeks for further polish.

i don't knowwwwwwwwwwwwww haha, I've worked with BioWare before and they're definitely the "everything comes together in the last few weeks kinda guys", but sheesh, technically it's a MESS!

 

The original soundtrack swap is a must for RE2, it even has the original menu sounds.

ya, I worked at the EA studio responsible for the, uh, linguistic integrity of their games. I did some translation work on ME2.

I love how in RE2 Marvin talks to Leon and Claire in two different tones, man to man with Leon and polite with Claire. It’s a nice touch.

I’m playing the DLC right now and it’s wild how good it is. It’s so much more than I thought it’d be and I’m more into the story than I was for most of the main game (which I also loved)

So is RE2 really only about 7 hours long? I have no memories of how long the original was, but can’t remember feeling that it was super short.
