New death metal project from members of Weekend Nachos and Harm's Way. Their debut album is coming out in February on Closed Casket Activities.

So many good heavy festivals in the USA this year.

Austin Terror, Northwest Terror, Never Surrender, Fire in the Mountains, Torment is Flesh, Maryland Deathfest, California Deathfest, Decibel Metal and Beer, Destroying Texas... It helps make up for the shit rock fests that all have practically the same lineup.

Posting this here - in a new band and we just dropped our first single from an EP we're putting out next week. For fans of Cult Leader, Converge, Oathbreaker, blast-beaty-chaotic metal stuff.

I’ve been on a big Melodic Hardcore/Metal kick this week. Made a big playlist even because of it.

Anyone into It Prevails here? Ian Fike is a real crafty ass dude when it comes to the genre. I consider C&E/Stroma some of the best ever in it. An old friend of mine has been playing drums for him for some years now when he’s taken time to play a few random tours. But, it seems they’re actually writing an album together now which is awesome. I thought with Take Shape being his main focus aside from his personal life that IP would be done, but luckily enough it’s not the case it seems.

I used to LOVE that band. Counterparts and Taken are really the closest I can find to their stuff now and even then it's not quite the same.

ok, finally got around to listening some 2019 stuff. Apologies if any of this has been posted already.

Really catchy prog from New York. Album comes out in March. First album is good, too.

French death/thrash, just came out yesterday. First favorite of the year:

Lastly, Traveler's debut comes out next month, FFO Canadian epic heavy metal:

I am so keen for this I can't even deal. I know they release some butt rock shit, but Spinefarm have some killer bands on their roster (36 Crazyfists, Entheos, My Ticket Home) and I'm glad they snapped up ETS too.

I think this and Full Of Hell's new release will be AOTYs of mine this year.

I heard this earlier today and holy fuck it's good. What a pedigree this band has.

Side note: I really miss Weekend Nachos.

  16. Hadn't heard of It Prevails in a long time! Their second album turns 10 soon if I remember correctly.

As a side note related to Traveler, this comp of Canadian heavy metal bands is coming out that you might be interested in:

Traveler has a track on it. Freeways (whom I've shared here before) also has a new tune there. It's pretty sick.

Being in Chicago at the time of Weekend Nachos last two shows ever and seeing them is a memory I'll cherish forever. All I can say. It was a pair of the best shows I've ever been to.

Ian is the primary writer for all the band’s work. I’m fairly certain Capture & Embrace is entirely him minus the drums. Super impressive.

I’d say Hundredth’s earlier albums are somewhat close, but their vocalist is not nearly as good. For The Fallen Dream’s first album Changes is in the same ballpark.

Unfortunately, the band i’d say most reminded me of some early IP was Heart In Hand, but don’t check that band out. Their vocalist was a pedo if I’m not mistaken.

Catching up in here and I'm bummed I missed all the 36CF talk! One of the most consistent bands in my lifetime, not a bad album in their discography.

I esp love their last two albums. Anyone who isn't caught up with them, check out this track off their latest. The chorus is so dang catchy for a metal song.

Also I love Atreyu still and love the new album, it's just not metal anymore. Brandon continues to have one of the best voices in rock. I can't believe he can pull off those notes live while he drums.

    Yes and yes!

I'd argue Rest Inside the Flames are their peak. Felt Through Phoneline, Great Descent, Elysium and Aurora are top tier 36 songs!

I remember listening to Hundredth and FTFD way back but they didn't quite capture it for me. Definitely need to listen to more of IP's more recent output as I really only delved super heavily into their first 1 or 2 albums.

The fact that there are at least a few people around here that appreciate Sevendust and 36CF makes me happy.

Did I miss Sevendust talk in here too? I wouldn't expect them brought up in the Metal Thread as I never considered them metal.

They've been talked about in here at some point, but I was mostly referring to you and Nate talking about them in the Chorus Music Society thread not long ago.
