I honestly think it's insane that Bohemian Rhapsody is nominated for Best Picture. I liked the move but it's nowhere near best picture level.

    Other thoughts:
    • I really think Minding the Gap is the best movie of last year and they should consider putting docs in the best picture category.
    • They missed First Reformed and Beale Street as best pictures.
    • Roma should win given the nominees but it'll probably just win best foreign language film.
    • First man not getting nominated for Original Score is insane.
    • Locks: Shallow as best song, Vice for makeup, First Man for soundmixing, and Minding the Gap for Doc

I agree with EVERYTHING! Minding The Gap was my favorite movie of last year as well. I’m so happy that didn’t get snubbed this year.

Although I think A Star Is Born was enjoyable, I have no idea why it's received so many accolades so far. I seriously think Lady Gaga's acting chops are mediocre at best.

Yeah First Man winning the golden globe for score (deservedly) and not even being nominated is the biggest offense for me.

I haven’t seen it yet, but isn’t this the third time this movie has been made?

It's actually the fourth time, if you don't count the musicals and international versions that were based on it.

I'm pumped to see some nominations for Marvel movies – would love to see Black Panther win one (although there's no way it'll be best picture, however I'd LOVE to eat my words here.)

It’s not even the best Marvel Movie from this past year. I get the costume, FX and I thought Michael B Jordan was a good villain. It was entertaining. I just don’t see it being superior. I feel like it got so much buzz as the first African American superhero movie, although the first ones I remember is actual Blade and Steel.

Side note, but why are so many superhero movies have a hero fighting a copy of themselves? Black Panthers V Killmonger, Antman V Yellowjacket, Superman V Zod, Captain America V Wintersoldier, Hulk V Red Hulk, Venom V The Other Venom plant guy who’s name I forget.

Assuming you're referring to the movies? Hulk never fought Red Hulk (at least not in the Avengers/Edward Norton film) – he was fighting Abomination there.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that movie, but yeah, a tough big creature vs Hulk.

I guess that why the Dark Knight Nolan stuff was so good. Just villains so different from the hero, yet the villains felt like shared a common bond with Batman.
