I guess it’s my own out of touch being, but I also don’t even know one what a Chainsmokers song sounds like.

I wouldn’t know the difference if they co-wrote it or not.

I listen to my Spotify playlists and bands I discover from this site, and I’ve honestly never dived into the Chainsmokers. When I worked at a pizza shop for 9 years I’m sure they came on the work radio, but couldn’t tell ya.

 

Correct me if I’m wrong bc I can’t remember where I read it, but I’m pretty sure Patrick only contributered the “dandelion” lyric in “Sober”.

Honestly, the only Chainsmokers song I know is "Closer" and I like it. I did a cover of it once for one of the Chorus compilations, and I threw in the "Dammit" riff after the "Blink-182 song" line, ha.

 

Hopefully it isn’t like the Coldplay collaboration haha

 

My first thought was that this this will be a chainsmokers (feat. Blink-182) song. And not featured on the album.

 

I'm totally here for a Chainsmokers/blink collab. I think that will be awesome.

Blink-182 had co-writers on past albums before, they were just never given credit like they were with California and moving forward. And you know what? They sounded like blink-182 songs and no one was the wiser. I think everything will be ok.

Let's all relax and complain about Feldmann now.

I don’t care who they write with. I just hope the guitars have some weight to them. Everything felt tinny and high end on CA. Even the heavier songs like 6/8 just seemed to be lacking some guts.

 

More than anything else, that was my biggest problem with California. I would have liked a lot of the songs a ton more if the guitars didn't sound 100% digital.

 

What the hell is that about? Just over compression?

Yes please. I have two complaints about California. The first one is the song structures were all the same with basically Mark singing the first verse, Matt with the chorus and/or the 2nd verse etc. And the guitars. There just wasn't any memorable guitar riffs and like you said they felt tinny.
