The apparently Tywin Lannister doesn't shit gold, line?

 

That could be it. Like I said, I never looked into it because I didn't want anything going forward in the show potentially spoiled since people were making it out to be very important.

 

It's because Tyrion says things in the books to Jamie that irrevocably damage their relationship. He claims responsibility for killing Joffrey, even though it isn't true

 

He never said the line outloud in the books.

Also, Tyrion tells Jaime that Cersei has been sleeping with Lancel, as well as two other characters not included on the show, which damages Jamie and Cersei's relationship as well.

Damnit. Well go to watchersonthewall.com and you'll see new episode 9 pictures. I'm at work and it's blocked, but there is a pic of Jon standing on foot with his sword drawn with a bunch of Bolton's coming straight at him on horseback.

 

Those photos are awesome, without giving away anything about the battle in case people are worried about a spoiler.

Anyone else think this show absolutely nails the aesthetic feel of this show? Costumes, settings, etc. I don't think it's ever been so consistently on point for any show i've ever watched besides SoA and The Sopranos. Everyone's costumes even feel individually perfect for their characters.

 

The only thing i want from this show is to see characters in different environments. For example, I'm tired of seeing Jon in the fucking gray, snow filled environment.

 

Pretty sure someone on another site just spoiled the end of the battle for me.

 

Spoilers for episodes 9 and 10 have come out, so that blows. Well, they're presumed to be true because the list of spoilers has been 100% accurate up until these final episodes.

 

On the Tywin subject there was also a lot of book stuff about the awful stench coming from his body (more than poopoo). I guess it was theorized that Tywin was already poisoned by Oberyn and was going to die anyways.

The biggest omission that I'm sure I was complaining about at one point or another from Tyrion killing Tywin is Tysha.

Watch this clip from 4:15 on before reading the rest:

She has been mentioned a bit on the show, but in the book Tysha is ultimately what propels Tyrion to do all the damage he does while escaping including murdering his father. I was surprised they glossed over it because it has such a huge impact on Tyrion in the books. Here's what happens:

As Jaime is helping Tyrion escape, fearing he will never see Tyrion again and overcome by guilt, he reveals to him the truth about Tysha: she was not really a whore and they did just come across her by chance.

When Tywin found out about their marriage, he is furious that who he thinks is a social climber of common blood had married into the noble House Lannister. Jaime is unaware that the marriage had taken place, but his father tells him that the girl is just after money, and they need to convince Tyrion to give her up for his own good. He then convinces Jaime to lie to Tyrion, to tell him that Tysha is a prostitute that he had hired to make a man of Tyrion. Jaime thinks that the girl will only be given money and sent away after the annulment. He has no idea that, before sending her off, Tywin has fifty of his guards rape her and then forces Tyrion to have sex with her as well. Tywin had secretly said he'd kill her if she resisted at all. Of course, poor Tysha is actually an innocent farm girl who was genuinely in love with Tyrion.

When Tyrion learns what really happened after so many years he is utterly consumed by deep rage. Jaime assures him he had no idea their father intended to have Tysha gang-raped, but Tyrion is not appeased. He strikes Jaime, then says he actually killed Joffrey (a lie, simply meant to hurt Jaime) then accurately reveals that Cersei has not been faithful to him, as she has been having sex with their cousin Lancel and sellswords she needed to sway to her allegiance. He then sets out to find Tywin

When Tyrion arrives at the Tower of the Hand he hear's a woman's voice and discovers Shae naked in his father's bed. When Tyrion confronts her she says she never meant the things she said and that the queen made her. She also said his father frightens her. He asks her if she ever liked his touch and she said more than anything "my giant of Lannister." That was the worst thing she could have said and he strangles her to death.

After killing Shae, Tyrion takes a crossbow from the wall and catches Tywin on his privy. At first, Tywin cannot even remember who Tysha is, or claims he doesn't, as an insult. After more threats from Tyrion he thinks on it, and says she was his first whore, to which Tyrion says that the next time Tywin says the word "whore" he will kill him. Tywin calmly insists that he never killed Tysha: after Tyrion's "lesson" was done there was nothing more to do with the girl, so he simply sent her on her way.

Tyrion asks again, if he let her go, where is Tysha? Tywin, thinking Tyrion doesn't have the nerve to resist him, deliberately mocks his earlier threat by responding, "Wherever whores go." at which Tyrion promptly shoots him. Tyrion only shoots Tywin with one crossbow bolt: it impales him above the groin, most likely rupturing his intestines. With his dying breath Tywin says that Tyrion is no son of his, to which Tyrion counters that he is. Tywin dies quickly and then voids his bowels. Tyrion walks away noting that the oft repeated jape about his father was a another lie: Tywin Lannister, in the end, did not shit gold.

 

I know Wun Wun is a giant and everything but damn, can't they forge him a big ass sword or something? Give my boy a weapon!

The pictures HBO released look so good. I can't believe I'm going to miss this episode sunday night(will be at Firefly Festival)
