This was the phone Lucy and Mary had on 7th Heaven and I always wanted it so badly

 

Ah, 7th Heaven. That's a blast from the past. Every girl around that time watched it I think lol

 

It was calendar set viewing in my house. My sister and I are 7 years apart, so because of the large family it really represented all age groups so there was always stuff that was relevant or appropriate for both of us. My mom and I watched a rerun a year or two ago together and were like "holy shit this is bad AND sexist". There was an episode dedicated entirely to a girl saying she didn't want to go on a date with Matt and the family not understanding why and trying to figure it out.

Also, there's one episode in I think season 1 where Lucy says she's going to a friend's house but then ends up going to the mall with a change of clothes with her friends and she gets caught and it's this whole big thing and when Lucy asks her mom if she still trusts her Annie looks at her very seriously and says "Lucy, we lost something today" and my mom and I quote that at each other all the time

 

Isn't there a scene in 7th Heaven where everyone's world comes crashing down because a 17 year old was smoking a joint

 

Probably. They also did an entire episode on huffing paint

 

I'm not sure if this counts but after I saw this..uh uh..no thank you.

 

Oh man, I remember those. The ones with the little line under the letter to make it look like it fit in with the rest of that AIM UI. I used to think I was so cool when I would use other apps, like Trillium I think it was called, or Adium later on.

 

Heh, sorry bout that. I'm gonna change the default to stop that from happening.

 

When we got a dedicated phone line for the ... 56k modem ... it was the happiest day of my youth.

I got a cellphone when I turned 16 and started driving. I wasn't allowed to use it on the reg til I was 17. I remember when my parents had bag phones.

 

I still think the evolution of the cell phone is fascinating. Feels like we went pretty quickly from trying to get the smallest device possible to wanting practically tablet sized all-in-one devices

 

to be fair I think I got a mobile around the same age, but it was a hand me down I never used. it was like a red flip kinda phone that Sabrina used in the TV movie where they went to hawaii

 

My first phone was some weird samsung flip phone I think, I liked it because I could text without looking lol. My mom had a red razr

 

It's cool. They were among 500 unopened emails in my inbox, because I go weeks without checking it. Which I'm sure gives some people who will read this the shakes.

This is where I mention I had a pager.

I had to convince my parents that I was responsible enough to have one ... I think this was 8th grade. I put together a "presentation" to give at our weekly family meeting.

First cell phone was some ugly ass huge brick of a thing. Then I had a couple others until I could afford my own plan and I got a Sidekick. And I loved it.

I had dial up until August 2008! I used that 56k until I was 16 lol.
