I don't get an AVA vibe from Even If She Falls really at all. If anything it almost reminds me too much of Always.

After our "listening party" yesterday of Neighborhoods, I realize it's not as bad as people make it out to be. There's a lot of decent songs on it. There's some shoddy lyrics, the production sucks, etc. bu there's a lot of redeeming qualities as well.

 

Haha I didn't know this opinion would be controversial!

Even If She Falls > This Is Home

 

Over the last few years Untitled and Dude Ranch are the only ones I listen to more than Neighborhoods. I just don't listen to Enema or TOYPAJ that often. Lately I've been listening to those more though.

I don't even remember the last time I listened to Dogs Eating Dogs.

 

Fixed lolol. Dead last blink song for me.

 

Sums up my listening habits as well, though I have been going back to Enema more these days. Dude Ranch and Untitled are top-tier Blink.

Nowadays the only record that aged poorly to me is TOYPAJ. It's not bad (has some of their best songs) but those lyrics from near-30 year olds takes me out of it.

 

I actually think even if she falls is one of the better songs on neighborhoods. Top 3 for me

 

Dogs Eating Dogs is the only song I ever revisit from that EP, only thing on it that really sounds or feels like Blink to me. Disaster is a AVA b-side, Boxing Day is ok, the other 2 do nothing for me.

 

"When I Was Young" is by far my favorite one on that EP. The chorus sounds huge and kinda Box Car Racer-ish.

 

Same although I love TOPAJ and Enema for good reasons. Although as for DED I burnt it into my copy of neighborhoods, as well as linked them on my MP3 player so it plays when neighborhoods does

Yup exactly what I think of it.

 

I love Blink, favorite band growing up, but I find myself coming back to them less and less because of the lyrics. Just nothing about them sticks with me at all. The new songs I like well enough, but the lyrics mean absolutely nothing to me

 

Up All Night really didn't do it for me either as the comeback song, it lacks the energy and passion of a first song released, I struggle to even get through it these days. After Midnight would have been a much better choice. Up All Night I feel would have been a better second single.

 

Well I definitely don't rank Neighborhoods above those albums. I was always in the camp that liked the direction they went with Untitled so while Neighborhoods wasn't great to me it was more my taste at the time. I thought people were silly at wanting the more pop-punk blink but I admit now I'm happy they're revisiting it. I do wish we could hear Neighborhoods with a producer and better production. It could've been great, I still think it's very good for the most part.

 

I'm in the camp that likes both. I love the untitled-neighborhoods sound, but also love the fast pop punk sounds. That's why I like BTD and RH so much they're kinda in that sweet middle spot.

As for DED, I like 3:5 songs. WiWY, DED, and Boxing. Disaster and Pretty Little Girl can bug off lol. But the entirety of neighborhoods is better minus this is home, fighting gravity and love is dangerous
