The mother of the band's frontman, Andy Hull, came across the cover and sent it along to him, who then shared the rendition on social media via his band's profile. Not long after, Hull reached out to Swon, not only to express his appreciation for her talent, but to suggest that they should discuss working together."

Finally checked out Brother Bird yesterday. Not really my niche, but really good nonetheless.

Pretty sure that’s not how that went down. Pretty sure they connected through Mel Washington, who has several covers with her in the years leading up to her signing.

 

Might be. But the Andy Hull mom thing happened 8 years ago. That cover is from 5 years ago.

 

I’m listening to Connor Oberst/Bright Eyes for the first time in anticipation of the Phoebe/Connor project, and “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” sounds so much like “Nobody Sings Anymore”. Has Andy cited Bright Eyes as a big influence it was it just the sound of the time? Their voices sound so similar.

 

The second right away great captain record isn’t a far cry from bright eyes either

 

Oh yeah, after listening all the way through I’d say it sounds more like that then Nobody Sings Anymore.

 

What is this upcoming Phoebe/Conor project you speak of? A cursory google search yields nothing.

 

Make sure you listen to digital ash in a digital urn amazing record too

lol just got it yesterday!

 

I just finally got my record player set up this week. I’ve been jealous of your collection. I need to get more Manchester. And I’ll have to wait a while and pay out the ass for a RAGC repress.

 

yea that repress was a tough pill to swallow, still cost a ton too. great sounding records tho.

 

RAGC will be repressed again next year. Avoid ebay.
