So this has got to be the first time a Pitchfork headliner then headlined Coachella, right?

Also, man, festivals need to stop booking Kanye West.

A quick look shows Kendrick headlining Pitchfork in 2014 then Coachella in 2017

When did Kid Cudi become a higher bill than Wiz? I like Cudi but Wiz was doing amphitheater runs in the summer and well last time Cudi toured it was theaters and small arenas.

I honestly feel like it's not that Cudi got higher billing, but Wiz is falling.

I believe it's their first US show and they're absolutely huge overseas right now.

From Wiki: Black Pink is the highest-charting female K-pop act on the BillboardHot 100, peaking at number 55 with "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du",[2] and on the Billboard 200, peaking at number 40 with Square Up.[3] They are the first and only K-pop girl group to enter and top Billboard's Emerging Artists chart.[2] They are also the first female K-pop group to have four number-one singles on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart.[4][2] At the time of its release, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" set a record as the most-viewed Korean music video in 24 hours on YouTube

I can see that. I do think Wiz peak popularity days are behind him. I just don’t think that Kids See Ghosts gained Kid Cudi that much more exporuse / popularity. It’s not like he wasn’t well known before that. It was an interesting billing to me, is all.

I can't believe BLACKPINK is coming to the US I am going to pass out. I have to get to Cali for this.

@Fronnyfron they are an absolute Korean powerhouse right now, yes it's k-pop. They're too strong.

Tame played immediately before headliners The Black Keys at Outsidelands in 2015 and were incredibly well received. Can't imagine they won't have a fantastic set at Coachella. They're almost definitely a fill-in headliner, but they'll do just fine.

it's like how travis scott headlined a bunch of stuff last year when he definitely wasn't on the level of massive headliner (yet) when he was announced, but any fest videos of his sets are extremely lit/well attended.

coachella doesn't need a kanye or radiohead or any gigantic beloved artist to sell out- even if tame impala isn't a stadium band, they're still a band with a crazy number of casual listeners, so they probably appeal to such a massive number of people that even if 100k people don't come to coachella for them, there will definitely be that amount of people who care enough to watch their set (or however many people watch coachella headliners)

I know I can’t/shouldn’t but I kind of want to go. This is one of the first Coachella’s in a while I’ve been really jealous of

He'll be out of the military by then yeah?

I'm so stoked Blackpink is getting this opportunity. I want to go so badly, but it would cost me way too much coming from the east coast. I am at least optimistic about them coming for more US dates now. I've felt so shafted the past year as they've toured Asia, haha.
