I still really like the title track from that.

 

I was 13 when All Hope Is Gone came out and I won't lie, the more accessible radio rock tracks were my shit at the time.

I'd argue the album has some cool moments, but no full songs that do it for me besides "Psychosocial" and "Snuff".

 

Add "Gematria" and "All Hope Is Gone" and this is a perfect post

 

All Hope Is Gone is a good mix of their older sound and them delving into mainstream radio.

 

I remember when All Hope Is Gone was about to come out, Joey said "this is how I've always wanted Slipknot to sound" which is interesting.

 

I didn’t know AHIG was considered a weaker album. I think it rules.

 

Listening to All Hope Is Gone for the first time (I stopped after really disliking Vol. 3) and am pleasantly surprised at how much of it I enjoy. Some of the singing bits have a Deftones vibe.

 

Finally listened to the new song. Jay is a perfectly capable drummer but does anyone else still feel like his precision changes their sound a bit too much? He’s super tight but Joey always had a different “feel” that makes the songs so much more chaotic.

 

Agreed. He isn't as loose as Joey or his parts nearly as primal, but he is still super. super good. I went to a drum clinic of his the year Gray Chapter came out and he ended by playing along to "Killpop". Seeing the outro played afew feet away from my eyes was super fucking rad and he was rocking out so hard.

 

Man, listening to Gray Chapter now for the first time in forever, the whole way through, and man is it A LOT better than I remember..

 

All Hope Is Gone and The Gray Chapter all get unnecessary shit - both albums fucking rule

they're no Iowa but really what is?
