  1. They won’t do anything for one at 93%. They will replace it under 80%.

Okay. Sell me. I have blutooth Skullcandy headphones. Why are Airpods better. I have a gift card so I'm considering what to do.

Anyone know how much battery drain is normal overnight for an iPad Pro? My new one went from 96% to 83% overnight. Just curious what's the norm

  5. I haven't seen anything close to that. Might be worth looking to see what was using the battery at night. That seems like an app being weird.

  6. My main argument vs other bluetooth is how much faster they connect. You basically never need to worry about fiddling with things to make sure you can just open the case, put them in, and listen. My bluetooth ones I use for working out are so fiddly, and the on/off button is annoying. The second selling point is removing any cord at all changes how your head can move, to the point where you barely think about having headphones on. That small little change makes a big difference in real world use, in my experience.

I would give anything for a pair of headphones that can be connected to two devices at once. Can Airpods be connected to my iphone and my Dell laptop at the same time?

  8. I haven't used them with anything but Apple products, so I don't know how that would work with the Dell ... and they switch between what I'm using at the time, but can't like play simultaneously. (I use them with my Mac, iPad, and iPhone.)

At work, I usually have my iPhone playing something, but then someone will send me a video to look at or something with audio I need to check out on my work laptop and I have to switch headphones and it's a nuisance.

Apple warns on Q1 results as iPhones and Apple Watch sales disappoint
While Greater China and other emerging markets accounted for the vast majority of the year-over-year iPhone revenue decline, in some developed markets, iPhone upgrades also were not as strong as we thought they would be. While macroeconomic challenges in some markets were a key contributor to this trend, we believe there are other factors broadly impacting our iPhone performance, including consumers adapting to a world with fewer carrier subsidies, US dollar strength-related price increases, and some customers taking advantage of significantly reduced pricing for iPhone battery replacements.
Trade wars don't seem so easy to win.

Guidance now puts the projection at ... their second largest quarter ever.

Getting the feels....I just bought a new watch....A Coros Apex 46mm watch. Its going to be so weird moving on from the Apple Watch, but I need better GPS tracking and battery life for running. Battery life on the Apex is 30 days and 30 hours in full GPS mode. They are basically like a Garmin watch, but half the price, which is what also sold me. Check them out if interested www.coros.com

I'm definitely keeping my Apple Watch around though. Love the ecosystem. Who knows...if they come out with out some major update and design in the near future, I may get another one.

This was me. Facing the actual price tag of the phone really diminished my enthusiasm for it so I just went for a new battery. I wonder how pervasive this will be in the next cycle.

Was always going to be tough for Apple to compete with Oppo and Huawei in China long term imo, especially with the Mate 20 being such a good phone. Interested to read more analysis on why this decline is happening though.

On a broader level, I think the real risk for the iPhone (and I’d throw the Galaxy and other high end smartphones in here) is that it goes the way of the tablet and PC - i.e. consumers start believing there’s diminishing returns in upgrading because previous models are considered good enough to be sufficient long-term. I think Apple is well aware of this hence the battery replacement program - it’s an important way for them to keep people locked into the ecosystem (and associated pay-for-use services) rather than risk them switching to Android.

Also, I think the market is telling Apple and Samsung pretty clearly that they’ve hit a ceiling on price now with their high end phones, especially outside of the US in Apple’s case. Will be interesting to see if this is factored into the next generation phone’s pricing - certainly I think, without some significant, game-changing innovation (which seems unlikely at this point) they’re going to struggle if they continue to raise prices.

Further to this, I think we’re going to see the services/subscriptions side of the business becoming more and more important to Apple, as it did with Microsoft. The recurring source of income from the subscriptions business puts them in a very strong position to weather downturns in the iPhone market, and I think we’re going to see it placed much more at the forefront of things over time.

I know a lot of folks personally who just find no need to upgrade their phones. iOS 12 is known for running very well on older phones. I can’t blame those who just got a new battery and kept what they had.

  23. I definitely didn't NEED to upgrade from my 6s. It would have been fine for another year or two, but as an Apple geek I CHOSE to upgrade. I think as the phones gain these longer lives the average consumer is less inclined to upgrade.

I'm one of those in the past who always upgrades every year, but the plan for me is to hang on to my XR for the long-haul. It's no fault of Apple's really but the smartphone industry as a whole feels entirely stagnant. There's just not much to do with it anymore that adds justifiable value for the average consumer. Especially when software is actually propping these older models up for better longevity.

  25. I haven't played with iOS automation much since Workflow became Shortcuts, but I found a need the other day and decided to fill it. So if anyone has the need to make a plain-text list from an Apple Music playlist and/or pull the artwork they applied to one, I've got you covered.
