Usually like listening to the Rogan MMA podcasts, but I'll be skipping this one. It's a poor attempt to make themselves look good and I just can't buy it.

How did it go up? And why wasn’t it made public? Lol this is absolutely unreal.

It’s not lingering in his body. He’s microdosing the substance.

  3. Tom Lawlor got a two year ban for 16 picograms.

Mir got suspended for around the same amount I believe.

There’s absolutely no way this is happening lmao

  4. IS ANYONE WATCHING THIS PRESSER? LMAO

Jon 'I passed a polygraph test, I'll literally go to prison if I lie' Jones

Ted Bundy passed a polygraph. Suck a dick my guy

Regardless of what Jones did or didn’t do....it’s crazy to me that he is able to compete and be off suspension while a substance is objectively still inside his system. Meanwhile, other guys get clocked for two years for non-performance enhancing substances that they got from Walmart that were probably out of their system in a day.

It does, but don’t try feeding us the lie that USADA was brought in to maintain a standard of integrity when you’re just going to decide “well, nevermind...”

I saw that on Reddit. Makes complete sense now looking back. We kind of saw that coming though because it didn’t seem like they had ever cared about preserving fighters’ images before that, only keeping fighters on cards if it made them more money. So we knew there was some other reason.

Listening to the Rogan episode with Novitzky and it’s pretty informative. I know Jones’ history takes away benefit of the doubt for most people, and same for me. But Novitzky is coming at you with published studies and evidence that backs up their claim that the metabolites found now are from the same ingestion as the metabolites in the failed 2017 test.

As far as competing with the substance showing up in his body now, they’ve determined the amount in his body gives him no competitive advantage. And they’ve determined the substance found now is consistent with the long-term metabolite found previously. At no point did they find the short-term metabolite that comes from the substance. They’ve determined that you cannot microdose this substance based on how it’s metabolized and have these results. And they’ve determined the different levels of picograms comes from the variance you see in each study as well as the “pulsing effect” of which this metabolite is released (once again backed up in published studies).

He got a year and half suspension from the 2017 test even though USADA determined it unintentional, and that it didn’t give him a competitive advantage. They are saying he cannot be punished a second time for the same violation (no evidence of a new ingestion). And while that sounds absurd, listen to the podcast and he explains it. I know everyone will come at me for this post but I don’t know how you can just ignore what Novitzky tells us. It’s ignorant to just assume he’s covering for Jones. Covering for Jones and getting caught would ruin his career and reputation.

  14. Lawlor’s positive test was for a different substance that is metabolized differently than what was found in Jones’ test. Comparing those two cases doesn’t work. And even so, Jones was punished for his positive test. Like I said before, he isn’t being punished again because they have determined this positive result is from a previous ingestion of the substance. And there is a “double jeopardy” type rule that prevents him from being punished a second time for the same ingestion.

Tell the truth from the start, don't react and change your story on a friendly podcast a couple days later. To me this is less about Jones positive test and more on the UFC lacking basic transparency/making it up as they go.

  17. UFC definitely handled it terribly. No argument about that.

And Jones is still an asshole.

There was a way to handle this with minimal blow back and the UFC opted for another route haha. I know I won't be buying the ppv now.

This gives me weirdly similar vibes of when Hendo backed out of the fight with Jon, and they canceled the whole event when Jon declined to fight Chael. Thousands of angry tweets directed at Jones and dozens of fighters telling him he is the reason their families wouldn’t be able to eat now. Jon put it nicely when he said “Look, it wasn’t me who decided you guys weren’t good enough to sustain the card on your own...”

It’s similar in that maybe Jon didn’t technically do much wrong here, but the way the UFC handled it puts the all the attention on him instead of addressing the larger issues. It’s really on them.

  20. I just think it’s funny all these fighters are coming out and saying “well I was punished for this blah blah”. Jones WAS punished for having this in his system. What they’re saying is that they cannot prove this is from a new ingestion. And he cannot be punished twice for the same violation. I don’t think this specific situation has come up with another fighter.

  21. Also, I bet we WILL see this for other fighters in the future. USADA rules are confusing and the science behind it is way more abdvanced than most of us understand. This whole thing of Novitzky coming out and explaining rulings is brand new. And we could see it for other fighters down the road, which could help save some careers and paydays for some guys. It seems like they’re learning more about the science behind the test results and could determine not all positive tests warrant a suspension.

  22. This is still a pretty stacked card though. Excited for it to finally get here.

BJ Penn, ten years after his peak, is on this card...hurts to type that.

I was thinking the same. He's on the card and I've heard basically no one talk about it.

Also its a shame the Nunes v. Cyborg fight is getting drowned out by all of this drama because thats gonna be a sick fight. I'm super pumped for that.

That's for the best. He probably shouldn't be fighting, and despite all of my hopes for great grappling exchanges, I think it's going to be a boring fight.

But Cyborg/Nunes is going to be :fire:
