nicotine? any particular reason?

 

I have never smoked a cigarette in my life and if someone told me they were doing nicotine testing i'd leave so fucking quick.

 

Employers are still very much allowed to test for it, but i'm not sure if it's really a deciding factor in hiring someone, just depends on the line of work i'd guess

 

Yep. It's medicinally legal here in Ohio, but several companies go out of their way in their applications to say they will not allow drug usage despite the change to the law.

 

I work in a cardiology office so they want to make sure we're practicing what we preach heh, but they never test for it again once you're hired so if you do smoke cigarettes as long as you don't smell like it you could continue i'm sure

 

That's what I kind of figured. I guess if you were in construction per say it'd make sense to get tested.

 

My neighbor called the cops on me before because he said he smelled pot coming from my house.

 

I've never actually been drug tested come to think of it which is kind of funny.

 

I got drug tested before, I failed the fucking test as well.

 

I know at least one of our doctors 1000000000000000% smokes weed he owns an alpaca farm and whenever he's the physician reading echos and stress tests that day, he closes the door and blasts reggae and jam bands all day

 

I work in advertising. Sometimes agencies encourage it. haha

I just think people overstate how much weed impairs you haha

If your tolerance is low, it can have minor physical effects like slower reaction time & flawed depth perception. But not really if you're accustomed to it. I think a lot of that is, you psyche yourself out when you experience a foreign or unusual feeling.

And it definitely isn't something that's gonna affect your work if you only smoke during your free time. Companies' obsession with it is more principle than practicality and it drives me nuts. I've never heard of someone's productivity declining because they smoked weed last night. I have heard of frequent hangovers causing that problem, however.

 

I used to work in internal communications for a big company and they were implementing nicotine testing and one of my projects was to be on the team that announced and explained it to everyone. The reason they did it was to lower health insurance premiums for non-tobacco users (at least that's what I was told). This company did not test for any illegal drugs, which was what every tobacco user complained about
