It's pretty incredible. He was averaging more made field goals than free throws during college and as a sixth man in OKC, but he's been averaging more free throws made every single season since he started playing for the Rockets. I'm not a fan, but you can't fault him for taking advantage of the system, frustrating as it is to watch. I remember when getting to the line was seemingly synonymous with first driving to the basket to get fouled, but now you have just as many players initiating contact on jump shots. Interesting how things change.

It is silly to care what athletes think about stuff like that, but it's also short-sighted on their part to think that expressing a controversial opinion somehow won't turn into a news story. Maybe the media shouldn't be so hard on them for it, but it's also the world in which we live.
