I actually enjoyed this more than 80% of LYR, more than anything other than Dark Side of you Room and Afterglow.

How was Dirty Work aged for everyone? People hated that thing when it came out, but honestly for me it's just (basic, nothing special) jam after jam, and Heroes is like one of their top 3 songs for me.

This is probably like the 5th time I've said it in this thread alone but I have already planted my chair, made myself some snacks, and am prepared to die on this hill. Dirty Work is a great album. Severely underrated. There are definitely some not great songs (like all of their albums but LYR), but many of those songs are among my favorite ATL songs. Do You Want Me Dead, Forget About It, Guts, Under a Paper Moon, Heroes are all particularly great. The only song I don't enjoy at all is That Girl. I think it's a really fun album and I'm always going to be mad it never got it's proper recognition. For me it's between this or LYR as my 3rd favorite after NP and SWIR, and sometimes it even competes with those two for me.

Dirty Work blows hot and cold. Releasing I Feel Like Dancin' - which even by their standards was corny - as the first single set a lot of people's minds against it I think. I'd forgotten how much I used to love Forget About It and Time Bomb when it got released.

I will always believe that this is exactly what happened. If they had come out of the gates with Forget About It, Do You Want Me, or Guts, the fan reaction would've been massively different. People heard Dancin and decided they sold out for this album.

I like Dirty Work more than Don’t Panic and maybe SWIR. It’s gotten better with time, for sure. It has some of their best tracks like Do You Want Me (Dead?), Guts, and A Daydream Away, but I can’t stand Time Bomb and I Feel Like Dancin’ is really corny. Still, it’s not nearly as bad as I made it out to be when it first came out.

LYR is ATL best record. The new song is taking a step backwards imo.

I really like the song, it's a lot of fun, and I like how they incorporated some of the sonic experimentation from LYR into their traditional pop punk style (like the glitchy sounds on the chorus). Definitely a great summer banger, but I think to fully know how I feel i'm going to have to wait until I have some context for what this is going to be a part of.

Solid tune, definitely didn’t give LYR enough love last time around. Might spin it this weekend.

And say what you will about Dirty Work but Do You Want Me Dead and Forget About It are some of their best songs.

  16. Did they play the new song in Canada today?

This made me go back and listen to Future Hearts for whatever reason. I dismissed that album when it came out, but I actually really like it now.

If you like this album you might enjoy the latest Deaf Havana album which I believe are comparable sonically, at least I think so.

i'd go as far as to say it's their only bad one. Nothing Personal is a masterclass on hook writing. SWIR has quite a few mediocre-to-bad songs but it's kinda become the definitive record of that neon pop punk (?) era. which isn't that huge of a compliment but still lol i really respect these guys' discography as a whole

I never hated Dirty Work. I think a few terrible songs drag down what’s otherwise a good, occasionally great album.

LYR is probably the first time they’ve made a really consistent album though.
