The window of these franchise QBs is unknown. I mean, we all remember how quickly Peyton Manning completely fell off a cliff while on his loaded team. It's important to try and win while you have that franchise guy and I don't care if that means one and done in the playoffs, because it could also mean an amazing run to a Super Bowl and you can't just not try to get in the playoffs because of the possibility of losing in the wild card round.

And saying "just make good picks" is so dense hahaha. Of course no GM is pulling up a chair being like "alright time to completely fuck up the draft". Most GMs miss quite a bit in the draft, there's not a perfect first/second/third round GM. I get that you think you know what all the right picks are but you don't, and I don't, and a lot of these GMs don't because we're dealing with volatile human beings who can do better or worse than expected at any given moment.

Well, Peyton Manning was also very old. But yeah injuries happen, you're right. I'm just being cynical tbh. I don't think either team makes it. I don't know, I was just talking shit, this has gone farther than intended.

I mean stop taking risks. The Browns spent what, three drafts taking project players. I'm not saying they think they're making bad picks, I'm just saying they are haha.

I edited because I'm Randall 2.0 (changed "moronic" to "dense" because "moronic" was harsh and added some stuff). But yeah I mean the Browns did makes some picks that were project players. But the Jaguars took picks that most people praised/adored and they ended up not panning out, and they also took picks people loved that were GREAT and the team still isn't performing at the level they should.

Well that's because they took a project QB haha. And if they take another project QB then we can expect the same results. Patrick Mahomes was a project QB but they played that perfectly by letting him sit and learn under an elite coach. Jags have bad coaches and no patience. ugh now i'm sad.

IMO Mahomes is also just a perfect QB for the players he happened to be around in KC AND was perfect for the way the league as a whole is changing. A lot of those faults people gave Mahomes as a prospect aren't relevant faults in the NFL anymore.

But regardless I was told by a lot of people I was dumb for liking him, and if he went to a different team I might have been, goes to show we all know nothing

Oh yeah, I'm sure I've said it before but Mahomes was drafted into the most perfect situation I've ever seen.

If you have no chance in making the playoffs I absolutely think teams should it in younger players to see what they potentially have, it gives them a fair shake and potentially get a better assessment of how they handle regular games and not preseason.

But tbh, even if the packers made the playoffs they would have lost in the wild card round 38-10

I think you should always try to win games. Not playing veterans who are important to your team when has been eliminated though, is fine I think.

Tanking might work in basketball, but you really shouldn’t do it in football. You can’t ask guys to put their bodies on the line so they can lose and reflect poorly on their future careers

Tanking doesn't always work in basketball, I'd say it works out to about the same % but since it's a much smaller sample it probably adds up different.

I do think seeing what younger players have is different than outright tanking

Wanting a higher draft pick if it's a particularly weak draft class, it's probably going to matter a lot more for those

Stick is a winner, but he doesn't have great physical traits for an NFL QB prospect. Level of competition will be used against him, but that's garbage...especially with what we've seen from Jimmy G and Carson Wentz. He isn't the same caliber prospect as those two though. I think he's a mid-rounder right now that could elevate himself into the backend of the second because of a weak group.

He has really good mechanics and feet plus he's a solid runner, but his arm strength is really lacking. The elements might have a lot to do with his passes fluttering a lot, but it's something that happens a lot with him. His feet bail him out quite a bit. He fails to make a lot of easy reads and becomes sort of an improvisational passer if his initial read isn't there.

I could see him developing into a more mobile Kirk Cousins type of a quarterback, but that's his ceiling at best.
