Like I love yall in this thread but sometimes it's disheartening to see some of you guys hope that your team doesn't win for a better draft pick. I'm a firm believer that regardless of the situation you should always root for your team to win.

Lions losing to the Bills is a new low and I'm still dealing with it

Tbh I wouldn't be shocked if you end up beating the Vikings. Just because it's football.

About there only being 1 good team in our division (Texans and Colts can both do damage) and about how Panthers and Eagles shouldn't try to get in playoffs even after underdog Eagles marched to and won the SB last year

Yeah, I wouldn't either. The Lions are so infuriatingly inconsistent. We've beaten some very good teams/been in games with some good teams, but lose any game that seems on paper to be easy.

I'm hoping next year is better. We need a new OC badly. We need Stafford to not be a complete corpse on the field. It's probably a longshot of that happening but I have to hope that a new OC can get him back on track and not call absolutely awful plays week after week.

Giants should've packed it in when they were 6-6 in 2011

Texans are the one good team! Colts are Andrew Luck. They're becoming a good team thanks to their absurdly good draft/free agency but without Luck they aren't there yet. Texans are well rounded in every way except OL. The Titans defy logic and I refuse to analyze them.

I don't know. Neither one of them stand a chance in the playoffs so they're just moving up six or so spots in the draft for virtually nothing.

    The rivalry is back on

I’m still a little salty that the Colts have won 7 of 8 and the one they lost was their free Jags win

So like if the miracle does happen and the Eagles get in the playoffs you gotta start Foles even if Wentz is healthy right ?

Why couldn’t the Jags have saved the day where their defense suddenly remembered that it should be the best in the league for Tennessee?

We can't be the best at anything except blowing major ass when we play Tennessee

that was supposed to read "we can't be the best at anything when we play Tennessee except being the best at blowing major ass" but to be honest it's more accurate the way it actually reads

You know what's pretty funny? If the Falcons would've lost to the Cardinals, they'd be sitting at the 2nd pick in the draft.

I think it's an easier path than it appears even as a 6. Bears are short one Eddie Jackson (I think?) And if you can make a gameplan to beat em you're potentially playing the Rams who you beat and the Cowboys play the Saints who they beat. If both go to the previous winners you get a division rival you have TONS of tape against and can maybe make a super bowl.

It's too realistic to throw in the towel

And regardless I agree that I always want my team to try to win

Ditto, and if the Eagles were to get in they could be a little dangerous. They know what it takes after last year

Maybe I just have a sliver of hope that parity and Any Given Sunday can hold true and we can get the New England monkey off our backs

Probably just in time to get the Kansas City frog on our backs

It's a sprained ankle but they'll probably be safe and not play him.

Example - The Rams were still in playoff contention in 2014. If they won out, there was a shot they'd make it in. They lose the last three, putting them in position to take Todd Gurley. If they had pushed for the playoffs, they'd have just missed out on the playoffs while also missing out on Gurley. I want the Jags to be a franchise, not just appear in the playoffs once and then lose haha. Ask Bengals fans how that feels haha

Bengals fans missed the playoffs TONS before Lewis Haha, they dont like being one and done but they sure as hell appreciate being in the playoffs

Lewis has his job solely for revitalizing the Bengals because only their fans know how much better it got

I don't know. Being just good enough to occasionally be the worst playoff team hasn't done anything for them except made sure they maintained a level of mediocrity that's almost two decades in length haha. To me that's worse than anything. Too good to position yourself for elite prospects but too bad to warrant making any changes.

But isn't it apparent how much the league can swing from first to worst? Jags picked in the top 10, hell the top 5, for years, stocking up potential players with high picks. It got them 1 playoff run to the AFC Championship before they were back in last again. Is it really worth it to tank when you can become bad just as quickly as you became good?

Texans had our 2 best seasons, both competitive, right before going 2-14. We had the same record for multiple years with and without that #1 player and now that player helps as much as he hurts when we're doing better.

Meanwhile if I recall correctly Gurley was a decent overpick at the time and the Rams would probably still have him. Obviously a great pick but I do think the Rams get him regardless

Barnwell’s weekly column does a much better job than I did of articulating how the Jags’ ridiculously healthy defense and turnover margin regressing are a huge factor in them being bad

(Except that you guys are very right about me overstating the injuries on defense part)
